It was once Microsoft (MS) and NBC (the network). Now after a corporate split, the all news network is getting a brand new name to take away the association with its former network roots.
The new name? MS NOW, which stands for My Source News Opinion World. Sheesh! And I thought MSNBC was a mouthful.
Many former NBC reporters are jumping ship to the "newcomer" and will no longer be seen on the network.
MSNBC (or MS NOW) is the opposite of FOX News, acting as a de facto spokes-network for the Democrats, as FOX does for the Republicans.
The rebranding means the end of the colour scheme and the Peacock, as well as the "NBC" stinger which used to be part of the network show intros.
The change officially happens later this year.
Cable’s MSNBC will change its name later this year as part of corporate divorce from NBC

If/when they close up shop, they can rebrand as MSTHEN.

CNN would be pleased if this happened. They have trailed MSNBC in the Neilsen ratings for a number of years.

Here's the new logo.
By the way, CNBC, the network's business channel, is retaining the name because of what Mediate calls "contractual obligations." But it will soon also be free of the ubquitous "peacock" symbol.

I wonder how popular MSNBC is in Canada. I have had it on my cable a few times but didn't really like it. Much prefer CNN for a US news network. And like FOX News Network, you never see MSNBC on in any restaurants, bars, waiting rooms like you do for CP24, CNN or CBC News Network.

Well, here's something you don't see very often. A network about to change its name being openly discussed by the on-air people who work there.

Neither Fox nor MSNBC do well in Canada. CNN outperforms them tenfold if not more, especially during major U.S. news events.

CNN is included in my one-level-up-from-the-bottom-tier Fibe cable package, Fox News and MSNBC are not. That likely contributes to better numbers for CNN.

On your ten flex channels you could drop one or two and pick up MSNBC and FOX News and at no extra charge. I gave both these services about three months but didn't really like them. I like the flex channel aspect since you can check out other channels and drop them anytime if you aren't watching or don't find them that interesting.

Huh. Not sure if I have this 'Flex' option of which you speak, will have to investigate. Thanks, P1!

On Rogers trending site, CNN is always in the top 10 along with CP24 and the Weather Network. FNC and MSNBC rarely, if ever, make the top 30.

I just checked the Rogers trending site. CNN is #2 behind CP24. MSNBC was #22, FNC #23. Among the U.S. network morning shows Today #9, GMA #12, CBS This Morning #14. Among the Canadian offerings, CTV Your Morning #3, CBC Morning Live #4, BT #6, Global News Morning #10, CHCH Morning Live #11.

Not sure about what Bell is doing, but Rogers has grandfathered and discontinued the Flex packages.
Those who have it get to keep it, but if it's switched for another package, it can not be switched back.

Can't seem to find any channel-swapping 'Flex' option for my Bell Fibe. Fox News and MSNBC can be added for a mere $4/month each. That's too high a price for full on disciple-ism on one side and full on TDS on the other.

You still should be able to change channels, but remember you are also dropping some to keep the same number of channels in your package. Did you go to the MyBell site? Log In and go to TV and your current channel line up, then hit modify TV channels under channel line up. The change normally takes about 10-15 minutes before it happens. If you are still having problems I would call a Bell store or on line.
