My immediate reaction when that annoying Kars 4 Kids ad starts playing is to turn the volume off or switch to another station. Other than that, I didn't think much of that ad until I read about the dark background of this organization:

The level of antisemitism in Toronto is out of control. We do not need to debate Israel's foreign policy here, but honestly, can the people of Toronto stop marginalizing and threatening and hurting Jewish folks who have nothing to do with a war half way around the world?

I agree,. Unfortunately, this can go in a series of very bad directions. I'm urging those here not to let it or I may have to close the topic. It's fair to discuss where the money goes and I decry the fact that's not made clear.
In fact, I posted a thread on this back in 2023. We have come a long way in the world since then and sadly, not for the better on either side.

Radioactive, I don't know who you are in reality, but I respect your opinion and enjoy everything you contribute to this board.

I agree with RA.
You've got to be very careful with this and note the article by Shaun King throws around terms like Zionism and Orthodox Jews in a pretty loose way.
King himself is described as a devout convert to Islam.
Does he have an agenda other than exposing Kars for Kids and where its donations go?
I am disturbed by commercials that seem to hide what they are all about.
For instance major radio stations all run those ads for the Chinese stage production called Shen Yun.
It is a front for the Falun Gong group which backs far right wing publications like The Epoch Times.
Falun Gong portrays itself as a persecuted group in China. And it is.
But it is also a cult.
In a similar stream, remember when erstwhile talk show right winger Michael Coren used to gushingly endorse Auto Depot?
It turned out to be run allegedly by a right wing Christian family that went bankrupt and abandoned many lease clients who had their cars repo'd
Coren as you might know went on to renounce his right wing politics and is now a left-leaning Anglican priest.

Thanks Mr. Jones! Your contributions here are always thoughtful and appreciated. And sometimes I don't know who I am in reality, either!

Kars4Kids and Cars for Kids have been fighting over their similar names for years.

Shaun King is a grifter who never seems to miss an opportunity to try to make money on the back of civil rights controversies. And he publishes on Substack, which is known for platforming and promoting neo-Nazi writers.

The only charities I donate to is The Salvation Army , at Christmas time, and the SPCA semi regularly. My theory is to follow Randy Bachman's advice and Look Out For Number One. Randy Bachman Teaches Lookin' Out For #1

If you listen to the metal version of the creepy tune, it will never become an earworm again.

Maybe it's better most here don't watch this...
Thanks (or blame) to Mace for the link!

Since the kids in the original 2014 ad are now approaching adulthood, new kids are now performing the same, lame tune. According to the NY Post, the actors are paid $75 for rehearsal and $150 for the shoot. Filmed at Butter Tree Studios in East Hanover, NJ.

I know of many Jews who publish on Substack. Argue against King all you want - but denigrating an entire platform because it contains views don't particularly like is not conducive to advancing the argument at hand...
