As some of you know Mr. Moore appears on his hometown radio station CJAD in Montreal each weekday morning at 7:20 a.m. with a brief entertainment feature.
Montreal morning host & long time Moore friend Andrew Carter may have caught Mr. Moore a bit off guard yesterday when he asked "What's Ben Mulroney doing these days"?
Moore responded by informing Carter that Ben is "actually working at a rival radio station in Toronto & he's got quite a chip on his shoulder".
Shots fired????
Well he went on to say "that works in talk radio...it's not my style but a lot of people in talk radio are kind of in-your-face and angry about everything all the time".
I haven't listened to Ben Mulroney enough to comment about the accuracy of Moore's opinions as they apply to his Global competitor but I'm sure many of you have.
Did John Moore paint an accurate picture of his radio rival?

I wish I'd heard this. Wow.
I think I might have said something like "Last I heard Ben Mulroney is still involved in media," and leave it at that.
The fact Moore went into such detail is surprising.

Does anyone outside radio really care? Neither of them matters enough that it's worth the airtime ... can't the stations do better?

Mulroney is far more passionate and opinionated than Moore, whose excitement level never reaches above mildly bored unless he's shilling for Jiffy App or Frank Leo. Give me Ben over bland every time.

*chuckles* talk about bland/boring/repetitive .. how about someone who mentions the "Jiffy App" in almost every post he makes ..

Yeah I was going to say, Walter's hate-on for John Moore is a tad strong; almost to the point of sounding problematic.

Well, worse yet, he did it in a totally different market where few Toronto listeners would ever hear it. So it really isn't an issue.
Although it would not surprise me if Ben Mulroney hears about it now that it's been given some exposure here.

Neat photo. Forty years ago that photo would have been buzzworthy and possibly gossip generating: one station's morning man golfing with the PD of its direct competitor.
In 2025, yeah, not so much.

I don't hate John Moore at all. Never met him. Probably a swell fellow. Been listening to him on 1010 since the by-gone days of his entertainment spots on old Ted Woloshyn's show, then listened to him afternoons for years. Yes, I remember 'The Cocktail Hour'. I am very familiar with on-air John Moore, thanks, and don't dislike him a bit, let alone 'hate' him. Back off. I loathe the 'Jiffy-App' spots. Nothing more, or Moore, to it than that.

Don't read too much into it. Tee times at that course might be at a premium, and some starters and course rangers can be quite inflexible with their pairings. 😁

OK never mind the "back off" BS. That's on you. You pop up with a comment EVERY SINGLE TIME that John Moore comes up, and it has gone deeper than Jiffy App in tone, content and anger level. So the impression I got from all that was PERFECTLY appropriate. If I'm wrong, then great, but you sounded as I assessed.

Okay, forget 'back off'. Get lost will do, and does.

Guess who was a guest on Shane Hewitt's show on CFRB Thursday night? None other than Nicholas Mulroney, son of the former Prime Minister and brother to competitor Ben Mulroney on AM640. I missed most of it, but I wonder if Hewitt asked about any of his siblings...

I heard half of it but was put off by the unacceptable quality of sound from the guest. It's everywhere now. It seems sounding like you're in a submarine is perfectly fine and not considered unusual today. Bring back the old Northern Electric.
As to the content, "everyone in my family is great".
