It's called "WEST," short for Western Entertainment Series Television. It's being done by the same people behind ME TV, which shows old sitcoms and cartoons but is very hard to get in the GTA.
What can you expect if it does come to a Buffalo subcarrier? “Gunsmoke,” “Bonanza,” “Maverick,” “Rawhide,” “The Virginian” and others from the genre. The first two have enough episodes to run for a long time without any repeats. You can't say that about the others.
Westerns are a genre I don't much care for, but when it comes to free over-the-air TV, the more the merrier. We don't know when or if it will ever wind up on an over-the-air subcarrier from Buffalo, but my question is: why would anyone there pick it up? There's already a subcarrier called "Grit" which runs essentially the same programming. We get it here via WKBW's channel 7.3.
Do viewers really need two of them?

From what I've seen of Grit(at least with the shows they air), they run the westerns that MeTV/Weigel DOESN'T have the rights to(one key exception: The Rifleman airs on both networks)-but the difference is that Grit does run Western movies while MeTV does not-and it's a safe bet that WEST won't air them, either.
Weigel's most recent diginet, MeTV Toons, currently airs on(ironically)WNYB-TV.

METV runs Westerns weekday afternoons from 1-5pm. Gunsmoke [the 1955-61 era] Bonanza, Rifleman x2 and Wagon Train. The second Rifleman episode today features guest star Dan Blocker, pre Bonanza. It has an incredible fist fight scene. Have Gun Will Travel runs on weekends.

Like RadioActive, I too don’t care much for Westerns, except “The Wild, Wild West”, the original TV series from the 60s starring Robert Conrad. Mind you, it was also partially sci-fi with some peculiar inventions that caught my interest.
