He was 82. I was mentioning on an audio forum I post on, that this is quite a grim looking decade. You almost need to roll the dice to guess who may be still with us in 2030

In keeping with this forum's usual subject, not only did the Beach Boys dominate the radio for many years, they actually recorded a song about it called "That's Why God Made The Radio."

A nearly two hour documentary from 1998 on the group. You can watch "The Beach Boys: Endless Harmony" for free on YouTube.

Disney+ also has a Beach Boys doc I've been meaning to watch. Most reviews I've seen compare it to Peter Jackson's excellent "Get Back".

Meet the woman who inspired the song "Fun Fun Fun," based on a true incident the group heard about when they were at a Utah radio station.

Oops! John Moore just referred to him as "Brian Williams" twice on CFRB! An unfortunate slip of the lip to be sure.
His producer eventually corrected him on air and Moore admitted "I get everybody's name wrong."
Not a good trait for a morning show host...

I woke up in the middle of the night and noticed 1220 CFAJ played 3 Beach Boy songs in a row - Help Me Rhonda, Fun Fun Fun and Caroline No. I'm thinking to myself, did Brian Wilson die? When I woke up this morning I heard the sad news. I loved the Beach Boys from the first time I heard Surfin' USA in 1963. Saw them in concert 4 times. They were definitely part of the soundtrack of my youth.

My two favourite Beach Boy songs were not among their monster hits. Wild Honey [Hot 100-#31] and Darlin' [#19].

The song is mentioned on this mid 70's homage to Brian Wilson by John Cale ex Velvet Underground:

I hadn't really thought of the Beach Boys and movies, but there's a tie-in. Their music has frequently helped set the tone for several well known flicks, including a James Bond movie and another big box office smash for Robin Williams.
