One of my favourite things to listen to on an early Sunday morning is the so-called "Secret Hour" on CKTB, which starts at 6 AM. It's one of the few live shows on that early, and it's very entertaining. The two hosts, Karl Dockstader and his producer Ryan Williams, ramble on about everything and anything and there was one brief moment of a reference to their future.
It was an offhand remark by Dockstader about how the FM stations in the chain are having an easier time with the "transition," as he called it, mentioning that it was happening slowly. He gave no hints about when that "transition" to Whiteoaks ownership would be complete or what it might involve.
But just the fact he's referencing it in an oblique way shows it's coming closer. The dynamic duo hope they'll still be around when it happens and I do, too. They do a very entertaining show when nothing else but rerolls and automated music is on every other station. And I'd miss it if it disappeared.
But this is the first time I've heard them even make an on-air reference to the change. The only question is not if - but when - something a lot of us here would love an answer to.

I think they are great too.....Karl has his show on Saturday as well in which he shows his serious side on First Nations issues. It is a great show and I still think also runs on CKLW Windsor..(Bell) I gave them a call this morning and it was good to talk to them and let them know they are doing a great job.
I hope they keep him on with the new owners. CKTB has had some great hosts over the years.

How do you know it's actually live? Seems like a waste of a live body or two

They take calls and texts, give accurate time and weather checks and there are references to new headlines which could not be done in advance. Also they talk to the female newscaster between her hourly updates about what's going on.
It is definitely live, and they often discuss that they're the only live talk show on Sunday morning at 6 AM.
So they are either psychics or they're there live.
Oh, and on the rare occasions when they do a reroll (like last weekend) they air a disclaimer to listeners that the phone and text lines are closed.
Not sure why they have them in on a Sunday morning, but they seem to be having a good time, which is what makes the show so much fun to listen to.
