One Of SOWNY's Own Highlighted On Broadcast Dialogue Podcast

I've long been a fan of Scott Fybush, who posts here as "Fybush," always contributing something interesting about radio or TV. His list of credits include being a newsman at WBZ Boston, an assignment editor at a TV station, and a talk show host in Rochester radio.

He even worked with another SOWNY-ite, Jon Pole of MY Broadcasting. And he runs his own SOWNY-like website called NorthEast Radio Watch.

He was in Toronto for a recent convention and Broadcast Dialogue talked to him about the future of the medium and other Canadian and American broadcasting issues, including the differences in the industry between borders, the demise of CHML, the recent sale by Rogers of dozens of radio stations, what Whiteoaks may have in mind for its new stations, and could CFTR be headed to FM?

A really interesting guy.

Most interesting podcast. I had no idea Scott Fybush once worked at WBZ. I just assumed the majority of his broadcast career was concentrated in the Rochester area. He is certainly a very interesting person.

I had a great time chatting with Connie!

This is actually a joint podcast - a version of it also appears on my own podcast series, Top of the Tower (and you should subscribe to both of us for interesting content!)

Interesting interview Scott.  Listened to the whole chat and the time flew by quickly.  Connie has had some excellent podcasts over the years on Broadcast Dialogue, and this was certainly one of them.

Scott also chimes in on a subject he discussed in that podcast - how AM bested FM during a terrible storm in St. Louis and why 1120 AM beat the same KMOX signal on 104.1. An interesting read in defence of an increasingly beleaguered band.

Sometimes, AM Still Matters (Or At Least It Should)
