At first I thought I'd imagined this. But no, it's real and thanks to YouTube, there's proof.

Back in the 50s, there actually was a TV series called "Hudson's Bay," It took part in the day of the fur trappers and is fairly racist in its depiction of the Indigenous. But that, sadly, was the style back then.

It ran in syndication in 1959 and only lasted one season. Not a striped blanket in sight.

After watching, I can see why this series lasted only one season.

Canadian Tire is buying Hudsons Bay intellectual properties, logos, coates of arms, brands and other items. So the brand will live on..  More from CTV News...https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/article/hudsons-bay-to-sell-brands-to-canadian-tire-for-30-million/

As an added bonus, the Bay will once again be Canadian.

Re: Hudson's Bay Files For Creditor Protection

During my college years in the early 2000s, The Bay, which had a store in Kingston's Cataraqui Town Centre, was a regular advertiser on 98.3 FLY FM; this was when Zellers, also in "The Cat Centre", was also still doing radio. Still remember The Bay's jingle at the time: "more than you came for.....at The Bay!" Sometimes followed by the thunderclap and "FLY FM Satellite Weather..."

I still remember "It's hard not to think of the Bay..."  A jingle I think they should bring back and make good use of.

So the iconic HBC stripes will live on, which is great! Still, it is too bad the stores will disappear, many jobs gone and many of them were lifers who will lose their pensions, that’s sad.

At least one version of that "It's hard not to think of the Bay" jingle was sung by that chorus that also sang about Yorkdale ("Yorkdale!  Yorkdale!").  They always seemed to be slightly dissonant no matter what they were singing.  Not necessarily bad, just seemed like everyone was trying to outdo everyone else in the chorus.  Then again, maybe it's my tin ear. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well now, let's just see what happens.
Bay brought back Zellers inside their Bay stores, now maybe Bay will be brought back inside a Canadian tire store?
Or a Former Bay will now be Canadian Tire with a Bay inside?

Wishful thinking, I know, but Party City didn't just become a section of Canadian Tire stores when Canadian tire bought them. Marks got to keep their own stores. It will be interesting to see what happens...

The memory of the "New Coke" is still too fresh in my mind.

The only reason New Coke was introduced because the company panicked after losing significant market share after the successful introduction of the "Take The Pepsi Challenge" campaign.

It used to be common, when a radio station changed or altered its format, to rebrand as "The new LR," or "The new 1280," etc.

Everything about this “new” name is wrong, and the logo sucks! I think a rethink is required!

Re: Hudson's Bay Files For Creditor Protection

I would not read to much into this or the present name. This person took over the rental agreement on property she already owns for the most part.
I am sure this is the most cost-effective way on trying to get her money back and look like she is helping the country at the same time.

And bringing it back to broadcasting…”The New VR”, which was “new” for 10 years. (As well as The New PL, WI, NX, RO for the better part of 7 years)
