Not many people begin their vacations on a Wednesday, but CFRB morning man John Moore does. He's off starting tomorrow, with Jerry Agar doing the show in his place.
Whether that will be the case for the next week is another question, but my suspicion is that Agar is only a temporary replacement and we'll be hearing from John Tory sooner than later.

Thanks for the warning.

They've now officially fleshed out the schedule, at least for the rest of this week.
Jerry Agar will be in for John Moore through Friday.
Deb Hutton takes Agar's place during that time.
Jim Richards extends his show from 2-6 all three days, subbing partly for Hutton.
Wouldn't it just be easier to bring in a sub like a Brian Lilley for one shift rather than play musical chairs with them all so the audience hears at least some familiar voices in their usual timeslots? They better hope no one gets sick or has an emergency because it will all fall apart.

As I suspected, John Tory will do the morning run all next week, with the other shifts going back to normal.

Yes, Moore mentioned on Monday (the 12th) that this was likely to be the case, but wasn't sure and quipped that Robert Turner often chides him for not reading E-mail. He was even less certain about his fill-in hosts for this week!
I suppose for Victoria Day on the 19th we'll get "Best Of" rerolls or they'll take CP24 live from 7 am or so?

Agar as much as confirmed on Wednesday that Monday would be rerolls.

I listened on Wednesday just to see how it would go. There are a lot of moving parts in a morning drivetime show and if you're not familiar with the format clock, it can be very confusing. Several times, Jerry Agar had to ask the producer 'what am I supposed to do now?'
But my favourite part and perhaps the radio highlight for the entire week came during what is usually my tune-out: The Tom's Place live spot. As Agar was introing the owner for his usual exaggerated spiel, he tried to use the slogan "Tom's Place: Tom will suit you."
Instead it came out "Tom's Place. Tom will shoot you!"
I laughed out loud. I think that should be the new tagline from now on!

I heard that! As much as I'm annoyed by Tom and his droning on and folksy "non-radio presence" (even John Moore in the early days of the show seemed frustrated/exasperated by him, barely containing the eye-rolling coming out of the segment, before Moore tweaked his attitude a bit), I had to admire that Tom rolled with it, unflappably - saying something like "I'm not going to shoot you, I'm not going to shoot anyone. And I'm not going to shoot myself!"

I'd still call in a wellness check to Baldwin St. to follow up.
Moore mentioned a bit earlier in the week that some bold (or careless) handymen managed to cut a gas line near his house and caused an explosion. Anyone know if they were Jiffy App people?

I'd shoot myself, before listening to one second of John Tory in the morning slot next week. 640 wins again

Tory must get acceptable ratings.
They keep asking him back and back to fill in for absent hosts.
I tend to listen when he does guest shots.
I tune out pretty quickly when Agar turns up at 10am.
Enough of his tiny minded
drivel.

Judging from the amount of times these hosts are off, or the amount of 'encore presentations' these talk shows get, they need a song:
🎵 We get up at 12, and go to work at 1 🎶
🎶 Take an hour for lunch 🎵
🎵 And then at 2 we're done 🎶
🎶 Jolly good fun! 🎵

Back around 1973/74ish, I remember Shane filling in for Stan Roberts one morning on WGR. Obviously, there is a great deal more to deal with in a 6-10 morning shift than a 6-10 evening shift. Shane seemed lost and was severly drowning.

I would have loved to have seen Kevin Frankish up against John Tory for a morning ratings battle...

What about Canadian TV host, actor, sketch comedy player Kevin Frank against Kevin Frankish?

Bland v. Blather.
