CTV simulcasts the ABC show "Will Trent" every Tuesday at 8 PM and the show is doing relatively well in the ratings. It follows that with another simultaneous substitution of "The Rookie."
But on Tuesday, for this week only, there's been a sudden change. ABC News snagged an exclusive interview with Donald Trump on his first 100 days in office and in a last minute shift, plans to air it in Trent's spot. According to the updated listings I've seen, the scheduled episode will now be seen at 9 PM instead, followed by the Rookie at 10 o'clock.
CTV has a new cooking reality program called "Yes Chef" at 10 PM, airing it as the same time as NBC.
So the question: does CTV keep Trent at 8 and The Rookies at 9, losing two simulcast opportunities with ABC to ensure they get the substitution with NBC at 10, or put something else at 8 and keep the schedule with The Alphabet Network?
For now, it seems they're sticking with the schedule, which makes sense to me. But it blows their simulcast night right out of the window. Admittedly, not a big deal but a situation that doesn't come up too often.
And if you're on an antenna and taping either of the ABC shows off of Channel 7, be sure to check they're being recorded at the newly rescheduled time.

Whatever they chose, it'll be a losing night - especially in Market #1 - due to game 5.

Simsub on regularly scheduled scripted shows is not as important as it use to be, especially a one off like this. CTV could actually benefit since it will be running Trent at the regular time prior to ABC. Global ran 60 Minutes at it's regular time yesterday, ahead of CBS which was still covering golf. Global never did this a few years ago and now it is very frequent.

Well as it turns out, they are taking the bait. On CTV's 6 PM news, they showed the sked for Tuesday's primetime line-up. They've moved Yes Chef to 7 PM, put on a St. Denis Medical episode at 8 PM, with Night Court at 8:30, and yep, Will Trent and The Rookie now make up the 9-11 hours, so they can be simulcast with ABC.
If you're DVR-ing any of these shows, check to see if your guide has updated. If not, you'll miss them.

They're not running 60 minutes on time because Simsub is less important, they're doing it so it ends on time and the rest of the prime-time lineup can be Simsub'd when applicable.

Global can only do this with new episodes if another CBS affiliate is airing the show at 8pm
