Both Jerry Agar and Amanda Galbraith will both be doing special live shows on April 18th. That may not seem unusual until you realize it's Good Friday, a day when just about every radio station goes on autopilot and reroll crazy.
Why are they coming in to work on a scheduled day off? It's because the night before - Thursday April 17th - is the date of the only English language debate in the federal election, an event some pundits feel could be the make or break moment for both of the major candidates. And both hosts want to be sure listeners have their say on what took place the evening before. (Of course, this being the evening before a long weekend, you have to wonder how many potential voters will be watching the event in the first place.)
It's not clear if others will follow this "live day after" lead on 1010 and other stations, including AM640 or the CBC.
Good Friday is traditionally one of the dullest days on radio, along with Christmas Day. It's nice to know there will be at least a few shows worth tuning in that day - even if the available audience may be limited.

The average person won't watch the Thursday debate but will see the two minute highlight package on newscasts the next day.

The average person won't hear this live 1010 programming either...

This will only be interesting if there's a real "you had a choice, sir" type moment.
Otherwise it will probably be dullsville.
Agar of course will say Poilievre won no matter what.
Also he's irrelevant now that he has openly stated on a Chicago radio starion that he would have voted for Trump if he could have... and that Trump is a brilliant businessman.
Galbraith will add rather boring commentary.

Predictable or not, at least it will be live, so there won't be references to something coming up last Wednesday that's already happened, which is the case with so many rerolls. As someone who finds these holidays boring, especially while walking the dog, I'm looking forward to hearing someone actually being there instead of some tired and dated "Best Of" - which generally isn't the best of anything at all.

Whether there is live or reroll programming on Good Friday won't matter to me. I work retail in a small grocery store which will be open that day.

Carny has shown to be a bit of a hot head so far in the campaign. My guess is the other leaders will attempt to trigger him during the debate. It should be interesting to observe, at least from that perspective.

Couldn’t agree with you more RA, Good Friday though is the absolute dullest day for radio, at least on Christmas Day there’s festive music usually! Good Friday actually bugs me as a holiday, as non-Christians have to suck it up with store closures etc., plus it’s Spring, you want to get out and about but even some restaurants are closed! I will check out 1010 on April 18th for at least a bit. Thanks RadioActive!
