Word I have gotten from several sources is that Zoomer radio Owen Sound is launching in the next 2 or so weeks replacing Bounce Radio, meaning the takeover should be happening any day now. Golden Horseshoe Broadcasting (formerly Whiteoaks) is supposed to be taking over Hamilton/Niagara stations soon as well. Plans are currently no format changes and hiring 2-3 on air staff to replace hosts that are staying with Bell.
It is expected that by the end of March all the currently approved takeovers will be completed and the new ownership will have taken over. The only issue I have heard about so far is that certain on air staff at the sold stations are needing renegotiated contracts. For instance the midday host at HTZ Ashleigh is a Bell employee who was hired at HTZ, but she has since moved to Calgary and does her midday show from Calgary as well as the midday show on CJAY Calgary and The Bear Edmonton. But based on the sale she technically stays employed by the new owners. But she would lose her position in Calgary and Edmonton. So situations like that are why delays may happen.
Also when Tarzan Dan was hired he was hired to be the midday host for the Bounce Radio network, once the deals are all completed there will be very few Bounce stations left. My thought is maybe some of the new owners will be trying to negotiate a deal to keep Dan on there stations. Maybe as a contractor potentially. Similar to how Crash and Mars work for 102.3 Now Radio Edmonton (Pattison Media) and they are still heard on C95 which is owned by Rawlco (who used to own Now Radio).
The next 60-90 days should be very interesting in media and I am excited to see what happens

She's an employee of Bell Calgary and will continue to be.

She works there yes, but she was originally Bell Niagara and my one source at Golden Horseshoe has told me her name is on the contracts that are part of the sale, but they need to negotiate with Bell because she does the shows in Calgary and Edmonton from Calgary. But technically her contract was part of the sale. The only contracts not included in the sale are the weekend hosts at Bounce and Move, as well as Tarzan Dan. But all the other contracts were included in the sale of the stations. It might be possible she has 2 contracts. One out of Calgary the other out of Niagara. But that wouldn't make much sense.

You've been mis-informed.

Is there a name change coming to move and bounce?
Are they keeping the HTZ fm branding?

HTZ will likely stay as it is a Heritage Brand-truthfully I haven't listened to it in several years-last I tuned in their rock format had been severely watered down-a far cry from the days of Iron Mike.
As for Move and Bounce hopefully they both get moved on over and bounced on out as those brand names are terrible. Bounce makes me think of laundry, and Hank Williams, and later George Thorogood said it best for Move:

In the case of the AM, there's a lot to replace.
610 simulcasts Jerry Agar (2 hours), Vassy Kapelos (2 hours), Shane Hewitt's The Shift (4 hours), and makes room for CTV's Question Period on the weekend (1 hour) and various Best ofs (John Moore, Bill Carroll, Elias Makos, Shane Hewitt again) overnight. That's 5 hours.
And then there are the various weekend shows, including the CTV Your Morning podcast (1 hour), The Social podcast (1 hour), The Richard Crouse Show (1 hour) The Ted Radio Hour (1 hour), The Munk Debates (about an hour), and Famous Lost Words, a podcast from Bell (1 hour),Totally Useless Information (1 hour), not to mention an hour or two of a CP24 simulcast early in the morning on weekends. (at least 2 hours), two doses of Tech Talk (2 hours) and the Trivia Show (3 hours.) And there may be others I left out.
But just from that list, that's nearly 30 hours of programming they'll have to replace with something else once they cut ties with Bell. (And it's even more when you multiply it by 5-7 days a week.) That's an awful lot of blank space to fill all at once. I'll be curious to see how they figure out what to run in place of it all.

Sorry when I was making my main post I was talking about the FM. I Didn’t even think of all the changes that will be needed on the AM side. But that is also because I’m not even sure they know what will be on the station. I know it’s staying talk. But I have heard a lot of different ideas of the way they will operate the talk format.

Are they going to ditch the iHeartRadio branding/website too? It would be nice to have the original website names back for these stations.

I wonder how many of the ethnic stations, if it goes that way, really attract large numbers of listeners. I work with 4 East Indian gentlemen, all in their late 20's. They all listen to their traditional music via their phones. I have asked if they would listen to a local station in their language if one would come on air up here, only 1 fellow said he listens to newscasts from home , but does it on his phone from a station in India .

When did they come to canada?
I notised that with the new group of Indians.
They don't listen to geetmala radio on chin, wtor, cjmr or cmr radio with the radio voice show.
I remember some of my canadian born friends talking about there parents listening to cmr or getting a special radio to listen to sur sagar.
CMR and wtor were the most popular in the indian comunity in the 00s.
I even remember as a kid, my school busdrivers listening to indian talkshows I think in hindi from WTOR and I thoght the language sounded cute and very funny, specialy when they mixed the english words in with hindi.

WhiteOaks who is buying St Catharines and Hamilton from Bell and currently owns a religious station and multi-cultural based in Oakville. Personally I doubt highly they will flip 610 to be any multicultural. They for sure will not be moving any of the FM's. Only brands from the newspaper story that have to change are Bounce and Move because they are national brands Bell owns. This also means any shared shows will also be leaving those stations like Tarzan Dan. Aiko who is on CHUM as well as Move, your guess is as good as mine on which station she will stay with. She is based in St Catharines. The contracts typically only promise to have people in the chairs and not always the name of the person. Should any announcer who is shared decide to stay with Bell, normally this would be allowed, but Bell would have to replace this person if the sale is not final. There are limited options for 610... and realistically financially it will be hard to bring the station back to full inhouse staff. They may keep a few Bell shows under a syndication deal. With 2 other Classic Hits stations on AM and neither really running any spots to pay the bills I just can't see them considering moving to music. The new owners also made mention they had ZERO plans to change the formats of any of the stations outside some brand names they have to. Only time will tell, but I'm sure with the approval before Christmas, Bell is wanting WhiteOaks to move on with it, but likely has understanding to it being a bit messy in those markets. I also warn anyone who thinks that WhiteOaks will walk in and spend huge money to bring each of these stations back to full staff... they need to look at todays reality. It's going to be a hard go... and focus will be cost containment I'm sure.

That's why I wonder if the game plan for 610 is to pick up a bunch of American talk shows, the way AM 640 once did things YEARS ago, as Talk 640. (many of the shows were Doctor shows, leading to the idea of jokingly calling the station DOC 640)

I thought it was Toxic 40!

They were supposed to train their radio announcers to have a pause and say TALK...640. Not to sound all bunched up.
I'm surprised they didn't go with "Talk radio 640" to better solve their "Toxic" problem.
This is why, if 610 would like to rebrand themselves, it might be smart to call themselves TALK radio 610.
The word radio eliminates that whole toxic problem...
