Maybe it was the uneven score, fan fatigue with Kansas City and the Eagles, the half time show, or the political issues with Canada and the US, but viewer numbers were down 1.5 million on CTV/TSN from last year. And CTV's programming after the big game not a draw. More from Bill Brioux..

Not the case in the U.S., where the combined total of several services showing the game hit a new record.

I know that a couple of my sports fan friends were going to boycott watching due to the US bullying,
And two of them were hardcore NFL fans. One of them said he didn’t feel he missed anything, and he probably didn’t!

It's funny, because I thought Global would have had the Floor in sim sub. Nope.
They chose to go with different programming altogether around the time the game ended.
(Global has had the rights to carry the Floor in sim sub in the past)

Could be because the time was so unstable. It came on closer to 11, and they had their news scheduled. It would have disrupted their entire primetime sked if they'd had to wait for the endless football overruns to end. Also, given that it was the biggest TV event of the year, no one was watching them anyway. Why bother?
I'm not sure how far ahead they make up their line-up, but Fox originally had Rescue Hi Surf in the post-game slot, then the network changed its mind soon after to put on The Floor instead. Could that have been a factor as well?

Global also could have had 60 Minutes in simsub but they haven't for weeks now. They have been running it at midnight.

Game was over at halftime...then the halftime show was polarizing whether you hated it, liked it or loved it...I switched the channel halfway through the 3rd quarter...a bet a lot of people did...it was a brutal takedown, non-competitive game.

Like most people in my demographic, I wasn't impressed with the half time show. Yes I know Kendrick Lamar is a rap artist, but I couldn't name one of his five Hot 100 #1 hits. The NFL is looking at the big picture. Lamar would be a good add for the NBA All Star game half time show because that league has a large young age demographic. The NFL is trying to broaden its audience. Because they don't pay for the talent, it is a win win for everyone. The artist gets exposed to an audience of 100M+ The league has at least the potential of increasing its fanbase while paying nothing for the talent. The fact that boomers like me don't like the artist performing is irrelevant to them. I will still watch the game and tune in again every Sunday beginning after Labour Day 2025.
