I made the mistake of trying to watch a series on this service. Way too many promos for the same three CBC programs. Never again.

Wow. What were you watching? My experience with Gem has been no commercials or promo interruptions on any of the shows I've watched on it. First time I've heard of this.

If you do not pay, you will have to sit through all those promos for CBC programs, & possibly some ads.
They are asking $5.99/month now for CBC GEM PREMIUM to get rid of all ads
(& hopefully no more promos):

Sorry. Were these promos in the middle of the show? During a commercial break? I'm not doubting you, and maybe it's only on certain shows, but I've never had one of my programs interrupted by anything. Strange. I wonder why we've had such a different experience on the site.

Really? CBC, which is funded by us taxpayers, charges us taxpayers to watch their streaming service? The bloated corpse is double dipping I think!

If I miss a Corrie Street episode, which is rare, I will watch on CBC Gem. Yes I put up with the same three ads and promos. Not worth $5.99 for the few times I view it.

Maybe that's the difference. I have never even been tempted to try their "premium" service. I'm not even sure I was aware there was one. Everything I've ever seen there is always ad-free with no subscription come-on, although you do have to sign up to see any video.
