I know it's a historic event, but I was actually a bit surprised to see so many over-the-air Canadian stations interrupting programming to show Trump's swearing in on Monday. (And for those who hate him, swearing at!)
CTV & CBC will both have live specials, undoubtedly simulcasting their cable news channels. CTV will have Vassy Kapelos in the major anchor chair, perhaps reason enough to watch their coverage over any others.
Global is sticking with the hour long "Property Brothers" at 11 AM, before giving way to their noon news.
The listings I saw showed City TV carrying two reruns of Hudson and Rex, since its normal U.S. provider, CBS, will be pre-empting the simulcast Price Is Right at 11 AM. And yet, I think I saw a promo on City Saturday night saying it would be carrying the inauguration. I'm still not sure if that's right or where it will come from if it happens.
I will fortunately be at the dentist will all this is going on and that seems only appropriate - because watching it will be like pulling teeth!

Not surprised about CTV and CBC.
But City, I don't expect them to take it.
Rogers thinks reruns are more inportent.
On the radio, 1010 will be taking it also with vasi.

I'm sure 640 will also have it in some way. Also 680. And CBC Radio 1 is certain.
Online!

Don't be so sure. My dentist has a TV hanging right above the patient chair. They always seem to be tuned to CTV. If yours is similar you may need to keep you eyes shut and put some earplugs in. 😊

Not only am I not going to watch/listen to the "second coming" of the malignant narcissist that is the Orange Idiot, I will be avoiding non-local news coverage as long as this individual is in office. If I wanted to know what he said on a given day, I could go to his X (formerly Twitter) account. But I won't.

I heard they moved the inauguration indoors because the Trump team was afraid the crowd would be too big outside....

I'd be happy to tune in for a broadcast of his funeral. The sooner the better.

That's why a lot of people will be watching tomorrow.
Although it has been taken inside the Capitol there is still a possibility for something violent or otherwise awry to happen.
(be ironic if the crowd tried to "hang Donald Trump"
BTW, tRump's people say the weather is why it is going inside, but analysts point out it was colder outside for JFK and he didn't even wear an overcoat.
Some say the real reason is tRump's people know the crowd size is going to be even smaller than his first one, and he doesn't want to look bad.
Too bad there's no Sean Spicer to lie for him this time.

Can we all agree that there are disgusting people, all around the World, and then there's the worst piece of crap who is, unfortunately, the best scammer in history.
P. T. Barnum had nothing on tRump. Barnum was an amateur.
I'll be avoiding the inauguration like the plague. And, to keep it on topic, the American media has a lot to answer for, beginning with Mark Burnett's The Apprentice.

And he was rewarded with an ultimate patronage appointment for introducing this man to the general public via that show.
Mark Burnett, "The Apprentice" creator, tapped by Trump as special envoy to the U.K.

Channel 100 will have full coverage. It has nothing to do with reruns being "more important" either.

Actually, my dentist has the radio on in her office - usually either CHFI, Virgin 99.9 or CHUM-FM. No TV! So I'm safe.

A good network would also put a big news event on their main channel.
I think City news is only on Rogers.

Not in 2025. Not when there are viewers through Prime and Channel 100-CityNews 24/7 channel, available only on Rogers cable. Rogers knows what they are doing, and it has nothing to do with reruns being "more important" and everything to do with getting as many people as possible to watch through other options.
(especially those who are already Prime customers)
Your better strong point might be to argue why not Bell just put the news on Crave for Crave viewers only.
The problem with that is that CTV news channel wouldn't get enough attention with Bell Fibe customers (& Rogers customers)
Rogers isn't doing nothing. They're just forcing content to be in places they believe need more attention...

Great job defending rogers.
By the way, elderly people who don't have rogers or crave or prime and want to watch would be out of the loop if that happened.
A network still neads to put their main news events on their main channel.
And for most normal people, streamers cost monny.
I don't watch mutch seriese or mutch on streamers, so their not werth it for me.
I might start paying if they put more sports on the streamers.

City opted for "Hudson & Rex," while the rest of Canada are "nervous wrecks!" Glad they didn't go for it. It's not really appropriate for regular TV stations to be focused on a U.S. presidential swearing-in in my mind. I don't recall them doing it with Biden.

Trump as president is a T-Rex... but maybe more aptly a raptor, which is the latin word for rapist.

But, unlike 2020, this will efect Canada more.
And, its entertaining to hear what the loon's are saying or, the big loon that calls himself a conservitive.

For a big event like this Citytv is not where I would go first. My first choice is CTV or CBC for longer coverage. Global as my 3nd choice. On the Radio it's 680 news in Toronto or CBC Radio 1. CFRB or AM640 is not even on my radar.
For streaming, I did watch CTV, and found the coverage fair.
Over on the podcasts. I will be listening to The Bridge with Peter Mansbridge, Toronto Mike and others who are giving retired news people a voice. It ready is nice to hear from people who at one time would have been the voice of reason on a day like today.

I thought you might find it interesting to see where Rogers customers are watching the Trump Inauguration. Based on their trending site, 1. CBCNN 2. CNN 3. CBLT 4.CTV 5. WIVB 7. CTVNews Channel 10. KING 12. KCBQ 18. FOX News 21. KCTS 22. RDI 30. MSNBC.

I agree with Aytononline. The Bridge with Peter Mansbridge is very informative & thought-provoking. I learn more in this 1 hour podcast than I would get out of hours of talk radio and I don't have to put up with 7 minutes of commercials every few minutes. Peter's guest experts are presently working in the media or are retired after years of reporting on national & international affairs.

Same.
City is way down on my list, but abuv msnbc and one america news network.
For me, on tv.
1. CTV news, 2. CBC news network, 3. if pbs took a break from kids programming, then it would be WNED, 4 WIVB/CBS news and 5. The news forum.

No surprise, City's not up there.
1010 Actualy did a great job on reporting on the inoguration.
I hope Bell does not lay off Vasi.

Let me just clarify something about Rogers. If I was them, I would have put my energy into there 2 Omni Television stations in Toronto. Pick the 2 languages that give the most ratings, and give coverage for people who's first language is not english or french. I would let the big 3 fight over the English coverage.

If I were rogers, The 2 languages I would pick are Punjabi and Ittalian.
I would also launch special feeds in Hindi, Arabic and spanish.
