Super Bowl To Stream Free On Tubi In The U.S.

It is the biggest sporting event in North America and one of the most watched around the world. For years, The Super Bowl was only on broadcast TV and you needed either an antenna, a cable subscription or a paid streaming service to see it.

That changes this year. Fox's free streamer Tubi has announced it will stream the game for free in the U.S., with no credit card required. That means viewers who may be away from their sets can watch the game at no charge wherever they are. You will have to "sign up" at the site, but that won't cost you anything.

Can Canadians watch? Unlikely, since Bell controls the rights here. But a VPN should easily solve the problem if you're somehow not home that Super Bowl Sunday.

The game takes place on February 9th.

Re: Super Bowl To Stream Free On Tubi In The U.S.

This is pretty hard to believe, considering the immense popularity of the "Big Game" today. The first six Superbowls were blacked out on local television in the host city and 75 miles from it. The standard NFL rule back then was that the home market for all regular season and playoff games would be blacked out even if the game was sold out. The 1973 Superbowl was televised locally on the condition that all tickets would be sold 10 days before kickoff. Beginning in 1974, the league began a policy where home games could be broadcast locally if the game was sold out 72 hours before kickoff.

Guess I am showing my age.  I can't imagine watching a football game on my phone.  Screen is way too small.
This will hurt any radio stations carrying the game,  Given the choice, many will likely opt for the phone.  I thought the CTV app carried the NFL games for free.

I have watched several football games on my phone. The sound and picture quality is quite good, but when at home cannot compare to a 17" laptop or 65" television.
