Goes tonight (Thursday) and his 11th Hour should repeat at 2 am tomorrow morning. FYI.

Re: Last show for Brian Williams on MSNBC

So, Canada's Brian Williams retires after Sunday's Grey Cup game.

And America's Brian Williams leaves after his last MSNBC show.

An amazing coincidence to have two Brian Williams, both TV personalities, leave in the exact same week within days of each other. What are the odds?

They probably called each other and said, "you know what would be a really great idea."

Re: Last show for Brian Williams on MSNBC

I guess this means we'll never see the Brians swap jobs for a day.

Re: Last show for Brian Williams on MSNBC

I'm still surprised American Brian survived his tall tale scandal but kudos to him for facing the music and going back on the air. Of course, embellishing the facts is (or should be) the kiss of death for a journalist - not so much for a broadcaster though whose job is to tell stories. (Interestingly, Rene Levesque has a similar incident in his journalistic past - he used to tell the story of seeing Mussolini's body strung up and hanging upside down from a gallows in northern Italy. He never did, but I don't think this came out until after Levesque's own death).

Apparently, Williams has always wanted to host a late-night talk show and perhaps his personality would have been better suited for that and maybe his next chapter will be hosting a chat show or something more entertainment-oriented. He is an excellent communicator, and quite likeable -but I don't think he was really suited for journalism.

Re: Last show for Brian Williams on MSNBC

“I dont think he was really suited for journalism”——really?  He was chief whitehouse corresondent for NBC Network for 3 years -  won awards for Hurricane Katrina (live) reporting (probably unscripted).
Seriously????  If you watched the 11th hour with any regularity, his interactions with top journalists, in real-time is something you cannot script or run on a teleprompter.  But Hansa, you’re entitled to your opinion

Yeah, but there's an integrity problem. If you let your imagination get in way of the facts then you're not suited for journalsm no matter how good you are at reading copy or even ad libbing. Being a good broadcaster is not the same as being a good journalist.

Re: Last show for Brian Williams on MSNBC

Here's a stunning revelation: Despite all his baggage, CNN reports CBS was trying to get former NBC anchor Brian Williams to become anchor of the CBS Evening News. He turned them down flat.

This would suggest things are not looking good for Norah O'Donnell, apparently ready to become part of the never-ending revolving door that is the once-storied CBS Evening News franchise.

Sid Rosenberg said on WABC-AM several weeks back that Norah was done at CBS. He did not elaborate.

Re: Last show for Brian Williams on MSNBC

Just a negotiating tactic.  Norah's contract is up.  Question is...with there even BE an 'Evening News' to anchor?

Re: Last show for Brian Williams on MSNBC

She is making 8 million a year which is high for any anchor,  in these current times where people have turned to other sources for news;  let alone one who is holding down the #3 slot.

Also,  word is that that CBS wants to return the operation to the N.Y. City studios;  where they could realize significant savings on production costs.    At her insistence the Evening News was relocated to Washington, D.C. (her husband is a Chef there).  A new studio was built and staff were hired/relocated for the show.

Re: Last show for Brian Williams on MSNBC

Wonder what Williams would say to an NBC offer to return to its Evening News?
