    Diana Rigg Of Avengers & Game Of Thrones Fame Dies At 82

    Emma Peel has gone on to a hopefully far greater reward. Rigg was one of those rare stars that branched several generations, playing in The Avengers, James Bond movies and most recently, the cult fave Game of Thrones. She was 82 and had been suffering from cancer.

    I assume that the video for XTC's "Mayor of Simpleton" (which got many spins on CFNY back in the day) was inspired by The Avengers.

    Diana Rigg was John Steed's second partner after Honour Blackman. I don't think the Blackman episodes ever aired in Canada. My personal favourite Avengers episode was the Cybernaughts. Robots in suits and sunglasses who karate chopped their victims to death.
