Times Square

I know this is stretching things a bit. It involves the N.Y. Times so it is media related. Times Square was so named in 1904 because the newspaper moved their head office to that location. It had been previously known as Long Acre Square. Again, not really related to what we discuss here, but I thought it was interesting.

Re: Times Square

Possibly one of the first examples of commercial naming rights?  The NY Times would have been a real big concern back in 1904 with huge influence and maybe part of the deal to move the paper there was to rename the area Times Square.  Anyway a much more dynamic name than Long Acre Square.  Times Square, one of the many reasons that makes New York such a great city, and one of a kind!
