So many good choices in this thread, always loved playing Tired of Waking Up Tired when I was doing midnights, do you think maybe sometimes we all forget how much more music is out there that we loved and it's times like these that these songs are even more comforting? isn't the right word, but just a safe in between space, a three minutes and something seconds getaway from "current affairs."

Deep Tracks I love Sometime in Winter. The song was written by and with a lead vocal was by Steve Katz and the last time I heard it on the radio was 2014 when Reiner Schwarz played it on his show on CIUT. The song was on the first BS &T album after Al Kooper had left but it was on their second album and the first with David Clayton Thomas.

Al Kooper and Steve Katz had been in Blues Project. Al left but Steve stuck around for the David Clayton Thomas debut.

Bread Let Your Love Go- I always really like when a group does a song that doesn't sound like them. Bread of course was known for ballads but when I first heard Let Your Love Go on the radio years after it was released I didn't realize it was Bread. Also love the intrinsic "harpsichord" at :57sec and near the end of the song.

And the hits just keep on coming-

I was wondering if Anne would show up. She deserves a spin since Anne had many hits in the 70's and was one of the biggest selling female artists during that decade. Has Gord made the list yet? He has now!

That harpsichord makes me think of the beginning of The Patridge Family Theme (Come On Get Happy).

Bread actually had two sides to their sound but as the chart positions indicated, the ballads just seemed to have more appeal so that's what continued to get released as singles after a while.

The first atypical tune that came to mind for me is "Laguna Sunrise" from Black Sabbath's We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n Roll. It wasn't a huge hit or anything, but I remember discovering it during a 2am Sideshow and loving it. It's a beautiful piece that sounds more Mark Knopfler Princess Bride soundtrack, and miles away from the heavy rock Sabbath was known for.

I got a kick out of the brief discussion about music "to get romantic to" from the 70's, and definitely agree with the whole David Gates/Bread vibe, and I would nominate the Bee Gees "Main Course" and Elton's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"

Since the Cars "Drive" was mentioned, I'll add Billy Idol "Eyes Without a Face" and Kim Mitchell's "All We Are" as two more fairly atypical tunes.
