Arrr Billy, have you ever been to sea? Well there is no Piracy here!

Canadian cable an ISP companies have put a court order in to block websites that offer "Pirated" cable to customers...in particular Gold TV is being named...

Gold TV is an IPTV site that offers hundreds of channels for a low price, thus stepping on cable comnpanies feet...and TekSavvy is mentioned in this article...

In a way it re-enforces that the big cable/ISP giants, (Bell, Rogers) like their monopoly and these low cost options like Gold TV are very big threat, thus the court order...

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in court and how the courts rule in terms of competition and monopoly issues at hand.

Also, this limits customer choice and access to content too...

Here is more on this report...feel free to comment and share your ideas and concerns...

I have never heard of Gold TV. Has anyone ever tried it?

I never heard of Gold TV either. Did it require an android box?

If legislation like this came 15 years ago, I could've easily seen it expanded to legitimate services in some vain attempt to rebuild the ever eroding media border wall.

Court-mandated website blocking is a dangerous slippery slope. The real pirate uses the Dark Web and .onion extensions anyway.

Meh, just get a VPN and the IPTV will still work just fine.

It's like swatting baby mosquitoes in Spring.  You kill one, 20,000 more show up.  As long as there's a stream to piggy back on.

I rummaged around their website. Channel list is impressive. However, setup is way too complicated for my simple non computer mind. They have three setup kits at different prices. Reading the info on each was a foreign language to me. Mac address required? More mumbo jumbo to me. They also recommend choosing your IPTV source wisely. For me, that would be like throwing darts blindfolded. I think I will pass on this device.

A number of major lawsuits now in progress in the US against pirates:  Dish Network has launched a suit in Texas, a state that has been very friendly to plaintiffs involved in infringement cases:
