I love old tech - especially when it's brand new. That's why I was amused to come across this old fashioned looking Boombox, which is anything but old fashioned. It has 2 VU meters, a retro look and the usual speakers. It even plays MP3 files.
I'm not in the market for this kind of thing and I admit I've never heard of the manufacturer, Studebaker. But what a neat looking bit of retro-tech. It runs just over $200 on Amazon if you're interested.

I bet I can get one at Sonic Boom in Toronto. They sometimes sell stuff like this.

I love the fact that someone is still making all this stuff, even if it seems so out-of-date.

My parents had a pink studebaker very briefly when I was growing up in the 60s.

Cute. I suspect that the quality is middling. $200 is about what a decent name-brand boom-box went for in the late-80's to early-90's. I still have my Panasonic 'Platinum Series' box for my garage.
Here's a link to the parent company
Here's a link to their overseas consultant? supplier? company.
I'll leave it to you to be the judge.

One of my favourite radios was the GE Super Radio II. For its very reasonable price [ I paid about $80] this thing had great sound with a woofer and tweeter. The selectivity on AM made it great for DXing and the 38" telescopic FM antenna brought in almost all the Buffalo FM's clearly. Sadly, with the dial so crowded today, that would likely no longer be possible.
