CHCH Reruns The Excellent "Story Of Late Night"
I'm a bit late on this - part one aired last week - but in case you missed CNN's 2021 series "The Story of Late Night," this is your chance to see it again on free TV.
The show, made by Canadian production company Cream, traces how the genre developed, the people who became household names because of it and where it's headed in the future.
It features great vintage clips, terrific interviews and an amazing story about how it all started.
The hour-log miniseries airs Friday nights at 8PM on Channel 11. And it's well worth your time.

I actually got to see the Tonight Show live when I was in L.A. back in 1986. The home audience really misses nothing during the commercial breaks. The studio lights go down and you listen to the Doc Severisen band. The band is loud and really good. The only exception is the break after the opening monologue. Johnny would answer a few questions from the studio audience. The studio had plush comfortable seating for 500. The set was surprisingly small. The edge of Carson's desk is quite close to the edge of where the band sits. To give the illusion of a large set, three cameras were used. One for the band, one for desk and couch and one for the performers. Seated by 4;30pm. Out the door at 5;30pm.

The first episode of this show is available free on Parrot TV. It's worth a watch, retracing the very early days of late night and what was there before Jack Paar and Johnny Carson. Some great vintage video is included.

CHCH is not airing The Rockford Files today or tomorrow , but all the other regularly scheduled shows are on. Curious as to why. It is being replaced today by Knight Rider, and a movie on Christmas Day. I needs my Jimmy !

CHCH is not airing The Rockford Files today or tomorrow , but all the other regularly scheduled shows are on. Curious as to why. It is being replaced today by Knight Rider, and a movie on Christmas Day. I needs my Jimmy !
I believe all the episodes airing on CHCH today and tomorrow are Christmas themed. Perhaps Rockford never made one.

A plausible explanation. CHCH is airing the shows in their original sequence , which I appreciate.
