Re: Can anyone identity this song?

Okay, seeing as how we got some of the best music minds on this board, maybe someone can solve this musical riddle that's been kind of driving me nuts for the past few years? What song is trailing out at the 2:14 mark, just before "Walk the Dinosaur" by Was (Not Was)?

It sounds vaguely familiar, but I just can't place it. This aircheck would appear to be from 1988, so maybe somebody who was working at CFTR or some other CHR station at the time might recognize it. This one is a bit more of a challenge, as there's only a 3-second sample to work with. Not long enough to Shazam it!

I had one awhile back that the late Kevin Nelson played on CKSL, going into "Tragedy" by the Bee Gees.  We never could figure it out, from the aircheck on Dale's site.  The quality is too low, and the sample too short for detection.  I have no guesses on what the Callaghan Man's op was playing.

No, actually the song right after that and just before "Walk the Dinosaur." The very short snippet before the "Boom boom, acka lacka lacka boom."

Could it be Eternal Flame-The Bangles?

That's the song at the beginning of the video. I was trying to identify the tail end of the song played between 2:14 - 2:17.

Re: Can anyone identity this song?

My best guess for the song at 2:14 is Bruce Cockburn - If A Tree Falls

Re: Can anyone identity this song?

Bob Callahan and CFTR were on fire on that aircheck.  The Callahan Man worked at a lot of stations in his career.  I was surprised the number of stations he toiled at over his radio career.  Here is a brief bio on Bob from Dale Patterson's Rock Radio Scrapbook, and a somewhat toned down Callahan Man from 1993 on WKSE in Buffalo.  According to the bio Bob is a sergeant with Toronto Police.. ..https://rockradioscrapbook.ca/cka-nov22.html

I think you might be right!

I believe this aircheck is actually from 1989 and not 1988 as it states on YouTube. Bob also plays "Girl, You Know It's True" by Milli Vanilli, which IIRC, was released as a single in the U.S. and Canada in 1989, so the Bruce Cockburn song would make sense as it was released around that time, too.

Re: Can anyone identity this song?

Could be 'If a tree falls'. Clip is so brief and there's talk so truly a challenge.
Reminds me of what I sometimes do when I'm reviewing DX audio of meteor scatter. Basically it's bursts of audio that can go beyond a half minute but as brief as a millisecond. I'm after IDable content that slips through, but most often it's bits and pieces of songs. Sometimes I'll try and ID a song from maybe 1 to 2 seconds of sound, sometimes even less. I've seen something along these lines as radio 'name that tune' contests...
