One of many DOGE subcommittee meetings is looking into defunding and disbanding public broadcasters PBS and NPR in the U.S. Today's hearing was called "Anti American Airwaves." More details on today's proceedings from CNN..

What will replace the great, educational and trusted content on PBS?
I'm not an NPR fan exept for there classical and jazz programs.
I hope trump learns and keeps pbs.
He should be forced to watch only pbs and listen to only canadian news and music for a year.

This poses a question for Musk, is it better to be considered a communist than a nazi ?

Fun question! though I think they'd position themselves as anti-Communist. However you spell whatever they might possibly be, it comes out opportunist.

So a South African, non elected guy is going to dismantle a long-standing American media institution.
Of course it will be reinstated the second tRump and his psychotic minions are gone.
In fact trying to do this might end up being dragged through the courts for years and outlast tRump anyway.
As for Musk, I can't believe he will last through the term.
He is bound to do something that will anger or offend the great orange leader.

Assuming, of course, that Fat Nixon agrees to leave at the end of his term.
America, and by extension us, is in a real Constitutional mess. Not for a moment would I expect him to leave without annointing one of his idiot sons as Prince of Mara-lago and therefore entitled to the Resolute Desk.
The America we knew; the America many loved; that America is gone with the wind.

Keep an ear out for numbers stations on the shortwave bands.

Most seemed to be in Spanish when, back in the day, I paid attention to them. I have wondered if the (shortwave) band is still used that way...

I don't listen to NPR. However, I have heard comments that they tilt left of centre. Communist? That's an incredible stretch. As for PBS, Left Wing bias in shows like Nature, Nova that deal with animals and science. I wonder if Trump has ever actually watched anything on PBS.

He's too busy finger-reading through Mein Kampf, but someone told him PBS is full of Commies, or was it Nazis, or probably DEI. Anyway, it's bad. Many people are saying so.

PBS is probably the leest comunist network in the states.
Trump should shut down msnbc and free speach tv.
Free speach tv is the most far-left you can get, seconded by the huffington post.

When you spend most of your media consumption with rage-bait outlets who turn the "sexiness" of an M&M or the skin colour of a Disney Princess into a partisan political issue, a documentary stating that "This species of frog is endangered due to the destruction of its habitat" starts to sound like communist propaganda.

I see you're unfamiliar with the 1st amendment as well as the definition of "communist"

Yes.
My post is real.
Look up free speach tv media bius and it comes up that the network leens left.
And look up free speach tv on youtube, a lot of there videos have far-left keywords unlike PBS which is centrist.
If trump thinks pbs leens left, then he should make sure they have conservitive commentaters to give the network a ballance.
But, he's to uneducated to keep educational tv around.

North American broadcast regulatory systems don't work the way you frequently seem to think they do (past discussions of pirate radio being an example). Now you've suggested that the US president should shut down private networks. Trump does show disregard for court rulings, and he might continue to bend the SOCUS to do his bidding, but reality will hopefully turn around and bite him in the face. Anyhow, it is utterly disturbing to hear anyone on a radio discussion board advocate for anyone in a position of political power to shut down news/media outlets for political reasons. Was that honestly what you really meant to say in your post:
"" PBS is probably the leest comunist network in the states.
Trump should shut down msnbc and free speach tv.
Free speach tv is the most far-left you can get, seconded by the huffington post.""

To quote Conor McGregor, "Who the **** is THAT guy?"
The vast majority of people do not have FreeSpeech TV on their channel lineups. I can tell you for a FACT that my TV provider doesn't have it. MSNBC isn't as left leaning as you THINK it is.

I like PBS. I am a subscriber. Their NewsHour is definitely not pro-right but no one forces me to watch it.
I had heard a Trump comment that 'you're commercial or you're not'. For PBS, I assumed that meant, as innocuous as they are, the Viking Riverboat commercials.
Again, an assumption, I figured it was NPR that he was after, not so much for their pro-left opinions/features, but for their lack of balancing pro-right opinions/features.
Taxpayers of both sides fund them, taxpayers of both sides deserve a voice.

I'm glad its not available here in Canada.
But, just look at there far-left youtube content.

There is a simple solution to all your objections - just don't watch it. I'm not sure why that's such a problem. I never watch Fox News, for example, and my life is all the more pleasant for it.

I never watch MSNBC and very little CNN and my life is relatively pleasant. For "World" News, my Ignite package gives me access to BBC, DW, EuroNews and the English Al Jazeera.

As nuts as this might sound, I wouldn’t mind watching Fox time to time, much like I liked watching RT at the beginning of the Ukraine war, as their propaganda was entertaining, and Fox is like a runny gag, but my wife refuses to let Fox in our home, probably for the best!

My father's sister was a sane, sober, and quietly patriotic woman. An 'old school' Republican. After her husband suddenly died in 2002, I made it a point to drop by every other Saturday to check in on her, and tend to the small chores her husband did when he was alive. Her television was always tuned into Faux News, which she would shut off on my visits. I will never forget the day when we were sitting in the breakfast nook, and she just blurted out "Obama's going to get himself shot!" Still sharp as a tack, I believe her thinking had been steered by too much right wing rhetoric.

Its not fo news, Its fox talk.
Fox news is more like a talk channel.
If you want news, then just watch pbs or cbs.
But the best for news is the BBC.
