Election Night Coverage

Nothing much as been said about the election coverage. Did anybody see anything they really liked or disliked on this past Thursday? I thought Global News had excellent coverage - more engaging, informative and fun than the competitors. CBC has become very old and stale, and they tried to make it seem like the Doug Ford Conservatives did relatively poor than originally expected. This was a bad take. Not only was it wrong, it was just an obvious left-wing shot at the premier.

I don't think it's a particularly left wing take. Ford's justification for an early election was so he could get a *stronger* mandate against Trump. He didn't, he won one fewer seat. Now three majorities in a row is nothing to sneeze at but by the standard he set for himself the result was disappointing.

Re: Election Night Coverage

It still remains to be seen about Crombie's assertion that the RCMP are investigating the Green Belt deal that was rescinded by Mr.  Ford. I was surprised it didn't come up during the debate. I wonder if there was a threat of a slander lawsuit behind the scenes ?

It was a very weak campaign, with almost predictable talking points, by both opposition parties. I'm not a Ford fan - so my comments here aren't partisan - but I do think he was the only leader (of the three main parties) who spoke like he owned the place, and he (and his party) correctly picked the right issue and tone. That's partly what's worked so well for Trump (thus far, there are limits as we may eventually see) - he expresses his power, not merely what he wants.
