I suspect that a Radio 2 Listener complained about interference, and that got them tracked down. You can't have a 1st adjacent station within the .5 mV/m protected contour, and a 2nd adjacent must be co-sited with, and have the consent of, the incumbent station. The pirate was violating the rules.
Under the Radio Act, ISED can levy Administrative Monetary Penalties on individuals of up to $25,000 on the first offence, and up to $50,000 on the second offence. The pirate will be lucky to get off with a warning. If he persists, it could get uncomfortable. The fines are treated as "debts to His Majesty", and subject to collection procedures. While the pirate may have had his/her share of fun playing broadcaster, it's time for radio silence.

That radio silence allowed Country formatted WTWF "The Wolf" from Erie to pop in when I was in Oakville [QEW/Dorval] today. Better signal than 103.7 which was also available, but barely.

Oh well, can't say we didn't warn them about their choice of frequency. Surprised CBC Transmission took this long to file an interference complaint.
Though their current website posting is written in the same rambling prose as used elsewhere in this thread, I'm left with the impression they just might of had their equipment confiscated.
MusicZone 93.9 FM
---- BEGIN TRANSMISSION ----
Oh, where, oh where could my music be?
The feds took her away from me
They shut us down, but we'll fight to be free
Bringing back the sound for us all to hear, you'll see
We were live on the air, signal loud and clear
Playing tunes for the world to hear
Then late at night, came a sudden call
"The CBC's mad, you're breaking the law!"
They claimed our waves were crossing the dial
Drowning their news with rock and style
"No more songs, shut it down fast"
The music stopped—was this our last?
Oh, where, oh where could my music be?
The feds took her away from me
They shut us down, but we'll fight to be free
Bringing back the 'Zone for us all to hear, you'll see
When I woke up, static filled the air
No more sound, just silence there
A notice taped up on the wall
"You're off the air—surrender or fall"
They claimed we wrecked the radio flow
Drowned out the news with tunes they don't know
They trashed our rights, they tore the lines
Cut us off, severed the ties
But we won’t fade, we’re not done yet
Tune your dial—we’ll reappear, you bet
Oh, where, oh where could my music be?
The feds took her away from me
They shut us down, but we'll fight to be free
Bringing back the 'Zone for us all to hear, you'll see
---- END TRANSMISSION ----
FOR NOW.

Sometimes WTWF "93.9 The Wolf comes in on the outskirts of London. But most of the time Windsor's 93.9 Virgin Radio takes over The Wolf's signal.
The Strongest Erie stations mostly reach near London are: WRTS 103.7 and WQLN 91.3 and sometimes WXTA 97.9 unless 97.9 WJLB from Detroit comes in as well. On rare occasions sometimes WXBB 94.7 BOB-FM might come in or WRKT 104.9.
If you are wondering WTWF's signal is 6,000 watts while WRTS is 50,000 watts.

My first experience with FM Top 40 came in 1971 when I heard what was then WCCK. Next door neighbour had an awesome stereo with an outdoor FM antenna.

They are playing a game lol The website randomizes through different songs as well.
Gotta hand it to them though, it lasted a lot longer than I expected! Any word on the street if CBC will be turning on HD Radio?

While you're out living your life,
I've been spending all my time
Fighting for a place to be heard
On 93.9.
I've been soldering loose connections,
Trying to keep the rig alive,
Boosting power late at night
Just to keep the music high.
