I live in the US. My carrier is T-Mobile. We pay $70.00/month for 2 numbers. This involves unlimited data and roaming. So when we head to Canada and Orillia for a couple of weeks all data (includes GPS) and roaming are included. Off to Europe same deal. Off to Vietnam next week same deal. just amazed at how much you pay.

Beg to differ on the Elton John/Kiki Dee song. I was the Music Director for CKLG at the time. We were regularly serviced with US releases by Brenneman Radio Services out of Woodland Hills, CA. Betty Brenneman was aware of the radio wars between LG and CFUN. One morning I received a call from Betty giving me the heads up on the Don't Go Breaking My Heart Release. That afternoon I was at YVR picking up the 45 and headed down to 1006 Richards. It was on the air within minutes. I don't know when CFUN got their copy but I know we were 24 hours in front.

I think I had a lot to do with this refusal. At the time I was the research guy for Pat Carney, MP. She was the MP for Vancouver Centre. She was well connected with the media types and asked me to give up my Christmas holidays in Ottawa and do research on the CBC application at the CRTC offices in Hull. In the end it just wasn't financial feasible at that time.

You may remember a Youtube video with Rockin’ Ron Sedaille at WDRC Hartford doing his Saturday night all request show.  He was the hardest working man in radio! We lived in Connecticut during that time and could pick up DRC and Saturday night with Rockin' Ron became a must. From the look of the video he was using Scott Studios. I have to believe that ALL his songs were requests. And even if all songs were not requested Rockin' Ron made you believe they were and that's what radio was all about - theatre of the mind.

Very nice comments on Pete McGarvey. He's an Orillia boy as am I and he kept close tabs on me throughout my radio career. When I retired from RCS, Ingrid and Howard Christensen urged me to pay a visit to Pete at his home in Orillia, Bob Bowland was in town that day we so both headed towards Pete's house. As we were getting out of the car I said to Bob this won't take long. Bob's comment was "wanna bet?" Two hours later we left along with autographed copies of his Stephen Leacock books. Pete never let his Toronto radio days get to his head. He was always Pete. A gentle man.

Dave Chesney is the fellow who wrote this. His father owned the Langley station and then he came to CKLG-FM (now CFOX) and helped with the building the foundation for CFOX.  He's a good guy and I couldn't agree with more.

I would be negligent not to make a comment about  André (even if it forced me to set up an account on the IG Network). During my early days at RCS and pushing Selector across Canada, Montreal was foreign soil, Until I met André. He embodied everything I had heard about Montrealers and he kept his word. As the Bell press release states "with unparalleled vision, passion, and integrity". He had it all. Rest in peace my friend. Your calls to Selector support  are on the wall of fame. You will be missed,
