Failing/failed any worse than Toronto's Today radio?

Where I do give them credit is when they buy something that's already successful, they manage to not screw it up, which is better than some other companies. Great win, I guess.

In retrospect, JR's great books were the outliers. They've now settled in a spot that makes more sense. That makes sense with Country - which has a smaller but more loyal audience. Ratings in that situation depend almost completely on meter placement.

Me?  Stubbornly wrong?  I only speak the truth Aaron..

Pattison's NOW! Radio in Winnipeg is temporarily MEOW! radio.  https://broadcastdialogue.com/94-3-nowradio-rebrands-as-meowradio-for-international-cat-day/

They have an interesting website as well..https://943nowradio.com/

Jim Pattison is today's guest on Bloomberg.     He's on now; it is SOWNY's opportunity to advise him on how to succeed in the radio business.

I'll do my part. Bell deserves it.

For many yeas London had three AM stations: CFPL, CJBK and CKSL. All locally owned at one time too.

Only one remains CFPL. The others were owned by Bell. In 2016 CKSL was airing a comedy format and Bell shut the station down in August. In June 2023 the plug was pulled on CJBK. I'm actually surprised it lasted so long given there was almost no local content . No wonder no one listened. I also have to place some the blame for the failure of these stations (especially CJBK) on the taxpayer funded state run CBC radio. They have practically unlimited money, do not air commercials and skew heavily to the left politically which would appeal to NDP and Liberal voters which are plentiful in the city.

Still sad to see two one time market leaders now silent.

Top two pics show some of CJBK's 8 towers and its transmitter building. Bottom two are the 5 towers that CKSL used and its transmitter shack.

The CKSL towers / shack are long gone but I beleive the CJBK site still stands.
