Sad. Perry produced my favourite solo Beatles album, “Ringo” by Ringo, natch. He left his mark on pop. R.I.P. Mr. Perry.

I believe his name is mentioned in the great Reunion novelty song "Life Is A Rock." ("Richard Perry, Spector, Barry...")

Ha! I heard that song for the first time in a long time just before Christmas, one that doesn’t get much airplay on the oldies stations but fairly unique, and an entertaining time capsule!

I interviewed Richard Perry back in 1982 for a Canadian syndicated radio series on record producers. He was such a great interview with great stories about recoring Ringo, Nilsson, The Pointer Sisters, Barbra Streisand and Burton Cummings.

If you ever see the movie, "American Hot Wax", Richard plays a producer in a recording studio doing a doo wop song that Alan Freed visits.

Biggest hit: Carly Simon's You're So Vain with an uncredited Mick Jagger singing backup on the chorus.

Once you realize it's Jagger doing backup vocals, you can't miss it.  He is almost the co-singer, and unmistakable.  I guess the song wasn't about him, after all.
