That's too bad. I like Teletoon Retro, I just didn't like the idea of having to pay extra for it.
It should have been complementary when Teletoon is included in any (rogers cable) package, or when people order Teletoon on it's own for $3

I'll have to admit to watching Teletoon Retro For Good stuff like Batman and can-con classics like Spider-man and the Mighty Hercules. (I kid you not -- Jimmy Tapp was one amazing talent)
Alas, with almost all the good stuff on Teletoon Retro available on DVD or can be found elsewhere, it does render the channel kind of moot.

Teletoon Retro French is being replaced with a new French language channel. (Disney French)
I'm not sure what the English side is going to be replaced with...
Here's the Press release:

There were some more radio cuts too and shockingly they were in Winnipeg again. I say shockingly because I am truly surprised there is any local talent to let go of.=inherit=inheritEntertainment » =inheritAnother Round of Layoffs at Corus WinnipegAnother Round of Layoffs at Corus WinnipegAugust 11, 2015 06:41 PM in Entertainment • 0 CommentsWINNIPEG — It’s hard to tell if anyone is left on Jack Blick Avenue these days as Corus Entertainment let another round of employees go on Tuesday. The now shell of a building, which houses radio stations 680 CJOB, 99.1 Fresh Radio and 97.5 BIG FM, laid off at least three more staffers.Sources say Jolene Dawn, one half of the BIG FM morning show, was let go along with drive-time host Adam K. An employee in the station’s promotions department was also let go. Veteran announcer Jay Richardson will assume other duties at the station.Power 97 rebranded to BIG FM on January 30 to counter declining ratings, moving to a classic rock format in an effort to increase its share. In late July, Corus also cut ties with staff at 680 CJOB, including popular sports host and producer Jim Toth. Talk host Charles Adler recently retired from the station and had his last show on August 7.In January, the company terminated several of its on-air hosts from all three stations. Last August, another set of local cuts were made affecting multiple Corus brands.A spokesperson for Corus didn’t return a request for comment on this latest round of staff cuts.

From pugetsoundradio:
Word just out of the Black Tower is brand manager/program director Ian Koenigsfest was escorted out of the building this morning. He has been with CKNW since 1991, and replaced Tom Plasteras as Brand Manager in 2013.
Also we understand Sean Leslie has quit which just so happened to be a coincidence. Reliable sources tell us Sean has decided to leave the media and pursue other venues…
Larry Gifford an American broadcaster has been consulting CKNW for over a year will either fill the shoes of Koenigsfest held on a Full or Interim basis. Gifford was instrumental in KIRO‘s transition in Seattle/Tacoma.
Some interesting times in Corus but maybe it means that the rumors of a so called national focus on talk using social media to interact with listeners is going to happen. Have one or 2 hosts that do shows nationally perhaps originating from toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg. And then having a local only am and pm drive talk show
Might be the only way to save the sinking ship of the talk stations. As for the music stations there really isn't a way to fix them. As I have said before anyone I talk to about radio has stopped listening because companies get rid of popular hosts and replace them with vt'd shows or just no on air staff or they find someone fresh from broadcasting school making 80 percent less.
Also on a side note: are there really that many on air staff on holidays at corus stations? Dave and Y108 both have people filling in. I've noticed in on Q and the Edge as well. Even on some of the area fresh stations. I can't remember a time when so many people on corus run stations were all on holidays

. . . did you hear that Lou Schizas is stepping in with his kinder, gentler approach?
