On December 30th, Corus’ Home and Flavour channels will replace the current channel positions of HGTV and Food Network respectively, as Rogers has them now. However, where are Rogers placing their two “new” channels? I have not seen or heard anything on this and this happens in less than two weeks. One would think that Rogers would have made a splash after poaching these channels from Corus and let people know where to watch them. But then again, it is Rogers. Does anyone here on SOWNY know?

The better question is where is Rogers putting Flavour and Home - if they pick them up at all? I bet HGTV and Food will not move.

Here's a good read regarding HGTV:

Very informative Radiowiz, thanks for posting. It looks like Corus gets to keep their original HGTV programs/personalities except for the Scott Brothers, which is good for Corus. I also see under Rogers, HGTV will be running mostly American productions. Wouldn’t CanCon apply still, regardless who airs the channel? Odd.

The wiki entitled "2024 Canadian specialty television realignment" has a lot of info too:

Rogers just wants to be like an american company.
Atleest Bell media is branding their channels as CTV and rerunning old cancon.
But rogers is redusing cancon to try to be an american wanabe.
Rogers, be proud of being canadian! not just with hockey.

Unfortunately, Rogers is a business first before it can be anything else.
Sadly, a sim sub still somehow brings in large amounts of money in 2024/2025.
It amazes me that it still does, even though many have abandoned cable in favour of their antenna, which, in some areas DOES pick up some American stations without a sim sub in place.
Then you have the IPTV replacements for Cable. Legal or not, they do allow the ability to watch American channels without a sim sub.
With all these alternatives to cable, it amazes me that Rogers isn't trying harder to think Canadian, with more Canadian content and less sim subbing.

RadioWiz, I'm also glad you want more cancon on traditional cable tv.
Instead of netflix and youtube being forsed to pay for cancon which they refuse to do, their should be more canadian only ondemand streaming survices.
I don't subscribe to any streaming survice, because I find most of today's shows boring.
I like ctv's streaming survice with classic commedies from the 90s and 00s

AFAIK, some of the programming acquired by Rogers will be on Citytv+, Rogers' streaming service, and On Demand, while some will remain as channels available on providers who chose to carry them: Rogers drops multiple channels from cable in favour of streaming only - Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News.

So my takeaway from this article is that Rogers poached channels from Corus and is now taking some of them off the air and streaming only. This will not sit well with many seniors as they aren’t big on streaming, generally speaking. My father in law and his buddies hate it, even though I’ve set two of them up in the past!
Thanks to The Weed for posting!
