"Train Wreck Of A Start"

I was surprised to hear Heather Seamen still reading the news on 1010 at 6:06 this morning. Normally by that time the newscast has wrapped up - the traffic reporter has had their say & the weather forecast is in play before the handoff to host John Moore.

Mr. Moore didn't hit the airwaves until 6:08 - several minutes behind schedule & the first words out of his mouth..."well that was a train wreck of a start".

I tuned in at 6:06 and heard all of the above but missed the "problem". I'll speculate the connection with newscaster Seaman was wonky making her unavailable for several minutes.

Did anyone catch this live at the top of the hour?

I did hear that.  I also noticed that John Moore sounded different.  I thought it was someone else.

Re: "Train Wreck Of A Start"

I happened to hear this live.    Heather Seaman, in for usual anchor Stuart McGinn, began her 6 am newscast sounding like she was about 3 feet away from a mic, echo'ing and far away in a room - distractingly distant. (It sounded like, say, a Zoom call when someone has a great-sounding USB mic or headset mic but the wrong input is selected and the laptop's terrible built-in mic was used. And that may have been exact the case especially if Seaman was broadcasting from home.)

Moore's board op (I believe usual board op Nick Maiorano was out on vacation) made the wise call to then drop out of that newscast after less than a minute due to the audio problems, and Moore began his show a few minutes early, joking he didn't have the extra few minutes of prep time (but admitted they'd been prepping for hours, as is usual - I think they have the 5 am morning meeting - by that point).

(Not sure on this, but I believe Moore may have then thrown to traffic himself but it was just the sounder and no traffic segment.) But they then cut back to Moore to riff and re-introducing Seaman whose mic quality was normal. But when Seaman threw to traffic, that traffic segment didn't happen either so it was back to Moore and that's where you heard (and the show audio) had the "train wreck" comment. Things improved from there.

Re: "Train Wreck Of A Start"

Speaking of train wrecks, I am increasingly concerned John Moore is either burning out or dealing with other issues.
He constantly forgets names of people and things.
But he now routinely jokes about how he never remembers names or gets details wrong.
No, he's not supposed to.
He also uses words or phrases repeatedly, like how many times does he use the word "existential.?"
who even knows what that means? (I do as an old philosophy student.)
Still, I pretty well tune out Agar when he comes along.
Ugh... the other day I did not tune out fast enough, and heard him refer to Trump as a "master negotiator" and referred to his Art of the Deal book as "brilliant."
Actually the co author of the book, Tony Schwartz, claims to have actually written it because Trump's attention span was so short.
