It's not something I ever pay attention to, but I have to admit I had a good laugh on the weekend when I read that the Pope had made a local Toronto archbishop into a cardinal, something considered an honour in the Catholic church.
What drew my attention to this story, however, wasn't anything religious. It was the new cardinal's name.
It's Frank Leo. No, not THAT Frank Leo, whose non-stop real estate advertising on radio has become more ingrained than giving a station's call letters at the top of the hour.
All sorts of terrible ideas came to me at once, all of them extremely sacrilegious. Like "if you can't sell your soul in time, Frank will buy it." Or "come with money for the collection plate and you can start packing with confidence."
There's probably more but I may already be going to hell.
I wonder what the odds are that a major Toronto radio advertiser would share the same name in the same city with an honoured member of the church? A very odd coincidence, indeed.
Pope makes Archbishop of Toronto a cardinal. Some praise his humility; others say he's out of touch

By the way, the real estate Frank Leo isn't shy about touting his radio advertising on his website. You can find this at the bottom of his home page: (Except I don't really think Bill Carroll should be associated with NT1010, although he does shill for the broker in this town.)
