I try to stay away from politics here, except when it concerns broadcasting. It seems to me this might qualify as an extreme exception.
As someone who was practically raised on American TV, this article scares the hell out of me and should be something we should all keep an eye on. The only sure thing is that it's going to be a very looooong four years, especially for those who work in the media in the U.S. I wish them luck.
Trump’s pick to lead the FCC poses a threat to free speech

Absolutely scary and then some... and I fear that no matter how much backlash comes from the American public, esp. re the First Amendment, he will not back down. Every media outlet should fight the threat of penalties for fact-checking the prez or for giving coverage to any person or party opposed to him or the GOP.
If the American media won't be allowed to fact-check or otherwise call Trump on his BS, this is where the international media should step in.

I agree, if free speech is threatened in the US, and American media is afraid to criticize or fact check, then international media could fill the void and likely will. However if networks from other countries, say the UK did this, who is to say that Mr. Trump wouldn't put a tariff on the UK for certain products to punish them. Or the FCC could extend their authority like the new chairman wants to do and simply order that the offending British network be not available.
Like RA said, it could be a long four years..

I think it's time Mika and Joe paid another visit to Mar a Lago and gave Trump a stern talking to.
