I use the myTuner app on ROKU to listen to Jazz.FM91, CBC, etc. when I'm in my office. It's like TunedIn. Today, I came across
which seems to have countless commercial free, steaming channels. Like tons of them. The footer says it's from the United Arab Emirates and part of ROR Investment & Securities. They also have an Android and Apple app.Offline
I spent some time going through, and listening to, their many channels/stations.
There are some nice surprises in there.
I do wonder where their revenue will come from. No commercials. No need to even create an account to log in. No need to install their app; just listen in the browser.
Given the size of their library and the worldwide target audience, their tech costs have got to be huge. So, again, where's the revenue?
And, although their site mentions the UAE, their domain registrant is located in Bristol, UK.
Hmmm. Billionaire's vanity project? 😉

Interesting indeed. Their site indicates they're a wholly owned subsidiary of something called ROR Investments & Securities, based in the Emirates. ROR, which is a business term that stands for rate of return, is owned by something called Uber Media, which is also based in the UAE. However, an attempt to go to Uber's websites sets all the warning bells off on both my laptop and my phone.
