32 TV Shows That Really Did Not Need Reboots
Cinema Blend's critic picks a plethora of reborn TV shows that came back for another kick at the network TV can, and perhaps should have been allowed to rest in reruns. I agree with many of his picks, but not the Twilight Zone remakes, some of which were quite good.
Not sure putting Frasier on the list was wise. Seems to be doing fairly well with the critics. And how could he leave out CBS' attempt to revive Murphy Brown, which didn't even last a single season?

The only one of those shows I even remember was Twilight Zone and I didn't know it had been redone.

They redid it twice on TV, actually.
The first reboot was pretty good, including one standout episode about the Kennedy Assassination called "Profile In Silver." Worthy of Rod Serling, who was long gone when it was made. The second one, with Jordan Peele, was a bigger disappointment and did not last long.

Everyone needs a little bit of escapism now and then and for me, the reboot of MacGyver fit the bill. I always found it hiliarious how Mac and his merry band of mercenaries were able to fly in and out of countries virtually undetected, get into massive firefights without triggering intervention from local cops or military, deal solely with English-speaking terrorists and gangsters and somehow escape prosecution in the U.S. for many serious crimes. If you were able to suspend disbelief on all these counts, the show was fun to watch.
In the meantime, I'll put in a plug for a current show I am enjoying, which is Fox TV's Accused. An adapation of the British version and filmed in and around Toronto (playing various U.S. cities), the show has featured some excellent performances from the likes of Felicity Huffman, Michael Chiklis and even Meaghan Rath (Children Ruin Everything). The plots are logical and the show is fast-paced without sacrificing dialogue or getting bogged down in subplots. Worth a look if you aren't already watching (which you should, since your tax dollars are helping to produce it).

You can add WKRP in Cincinnati (The New WKRP in Cincinnati) and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CSI: Vegas) to that list.

Wouldn't Degrassi hold some sort of record for reboots? And some of them were quite successful.
The Kids of Degrassi Street 1979-86 (original)
Degrassi Junior High 1987-89
Degrassi High 1989-91
Degrassi: The Next Generation 2001-15
Degrassi : Next Class 2016-17
The above series were originally on CBC, CTV, Much Music, MTV Canada and finally The Family Channel. Also the Degrassi series had four movies, four TV specials and various webcasts.
In 2022 HBO announced it was going to revive the series with 10 one hour episodes. However later in the year HBO was reorganized, and the various strikes in Hollywood put the return on hold. Wildbrain Studios in Toronto is currently working on a documentary on the franchise.
