I was over at my friend with the U.S. satellite dish last night. There was a great documentary on MSNBC called "My Generation," but I don't think it's being shown on Canadian TV. Which is unfortunate, because it was terrific.
The conceit of the show: it features a 2-hour recap of the influences for each generation, beginning with Baby Boomers, moving on the next week to the generation that followed. From the description on their webpage:
"Each episode of "My Generation" will focus on one of the four generations to which the majority of Americans belong: Baby Boomers (born 1946-64), Generation X (born 1965-1981), Millennials (born 1981-1996) and Gen Z (born after 1997). Combining archival footage and original interviews, the series will document the iconic events, people, and media that shaped each generation."
Every episode is narrated by a different celebrity born in the years the episode covers. (Forest Whittaker did the honours in Part 1), with Ethan Hawke, Kristen Bell and Jenna Ortega taking the following years. (You can see the trailer here to get a feel for what it's like.)
It's very American oriented, so I'm not sure if it will ever get picked up here. But if it does or you can locate it online elsewhere, I found it a riveting 2 hours. And I'm looking forward to trying to see the next three.

I watched the promo. Looks like what CNN did with the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's series produced by Tom Hanks. There was another documentary of the same name hosted by Michael Caine from 2017 but was more British oriented. Here is the trailer for the new MSNBC series..

Actually, MSNBC is widely available here so anyone can watch My Generation in Canada if they want. I dropped CNN and BBC World and gave MSNBC and FOX News Network a try for three months two years ago. Didn't like them, so I flipped back to CNN and BBC.

Glad to hear it. I checked several sources that said MSNBC is not on most Canadian cable systems. I hope those who get it were able to watch Part One and can see the rest, airing on Saturday nights. The first one was great.

MSNBC is even on free preview from time to time with Bell.
