A decade and a half on the air is an accomplishment for a major market morning show.
There have been any number of changes in the MITM on and off air team. Some folks have gone on to different and related jobs in broadcasting, media and public relations. Some have gone on to government jobs.
Over the last fifteen years the leading man of the morning show, John Moore has given the Newstalk 1010 listeners interesting, intelligent and thoughtful information on a wide range of topics. He regularly looks at life in Canada from several angles, as a former Montrealer and now Torontonian.
The quietly moving story John has often told to mark Remembrance Day of the older woman he came to know who served in WW2 is a prime example of the worthwhile subjects he gleans and shares with his listeners that always make listening to MITM a darn good way to spend a couple of hours. And I hope he'll share her story again this Remembrance Day.
John did mention they were celebrating the anniversary on-air on Friday and I think hitting the 15 year mark deserves a post here on the big yellow board.
Congratulations to John Moore and the whole team and if the gods are kind we'll be able to enjoy at least another decade of Moore In The Morning.

He also noted for the record that only he and Marilyn Denis on CHUM-FM have been around in Toronto morning radio for that long.
The way the biz is these days, 15 years is like a century.

Roz and Mocha are also at 15 years

Wasn't aware they'd been around so long. Guess Moore only thought to mention members of the Bell Media family!

Congratulations to John Moore!

Most here know that Moore was on the afternoon show before he landed mornings on 'RB. To this day, he often laments the slightly slower pace of that PM drive effort and the chance it gave him to take more phone calls from listeners.
I'm trying to remember who he replaced. Was it Bill Carroll? Ted Woloshyn? I think it was the former, but I can't quite remember.

John Oakley had afternoon drive in the early 2000's but for how long? Moore was on afternoons for at least a couple of years on RB but I am not sure how many years prior before moving to mornings in 2009.

According to Broadcast History.ca, Moore replaced Bill Carroll on mornings, with the latter going after him, from 9AM-1PM. It's not often you see a morning guy take a different shift instead of leaving a station.
It says Oakley was hired to do overnights (after a stint out of town and before that on the same shift over CJCL 1430), in 1991. It aired from 11:30 PM to 3 AM, followed by rerolls of other shows. He eventually graduated to take Ed Needham's place on the evening show in 1993. By 1995, he was on in place of the departed Andy Barrie from 10AM-noon. In 1996, he switched from 2-4 PM, with the Motts taking over his previous slot. He was doing 1-4PM by 1991 and 2-5PM by 2000.
It doesn't say he long he occupied that slot or when he wound up on 640.

Maybe not a good idea to draw attention to how long Moore has been around, lest Bell execs say, "whoa, he's been around that long and we pay him how much... gotta put a stop to that."
