It can make you feel really old to realize NBC's "Saturday Night" (its original moniker) will be 50 years old when it returns with live shows on Sept. 28th.

What happened to the original cast? Those still with us have had varying degrees of success in other venues over the years. (I had no idea that Garrett Morris had been shot and seriously wounded in a 1994 attempted hold-up.)

Worth noting that NBC is planning to celebrate the event with a three hour live special on February 16th next year. As the article notes, it's almost sacrilegious - that's a Sunday night!
