Pardon the Interruption

Over all, I like 640, and listen regularly, but any crossover or on-air staff interaction involving Alex Pierson is excrutiating.  Her constant interrupting and speaking over whoever is unfortunate enough to be in her vicinity is just awful radio.  The awkward handover between Kelly Cutrara and Oakley in the afternoon isn't much better.  I get the impression they don't care much for each other at all.  Please, make it stop, or at least mute Pierson's mic when someone else is trying to speak.

Re: Pardon the Interruption

Jim Richards does this all the time with interviews. It's intolerable.

Re: Pardon the Interruption

This is more common than listeners realize...when I was at MOJO 640/Q107/Edge the egos in the studio and halls were palpable...Derringer, Humble and Fred, Scruff, Krystal, etc., big time morning shows, seasoned news people and DJs...there was jealousy and paranoia all over the place and it was clear some folks couldn't care for others....they either avoided each other completely or if the had to co-exist, especially on-air for any amount of time, the uncomfortableness was clearly felt in the studio and over the air...I'm gonna go out on a short limb and speculate that Kelly thinks Oakley is a tool.

Having heard their awkward cross-overs for a while now, it sounds as if there is no love lost between them.  As well, it's also irksome that she does her usual sign-off with 'Couldn't do it without you, and I wouldn't want to', then suddenly sounds surprised that 'Oh, John Oakley's here!  What's coming up on your show?'  It's clumsy, and phony.

Re: Pardon the Interruption

I think there's a reason for that odd sign-off. Cutrara's show is simulcast on CFPL-AM in London. That "I wouldn't want to" line is where 980 breaks away from the show, and then the Oakley thing is strictly local on AM640 only.

I agree that it's awkward but that's why it sounds that way. It's a network cut off thing.

Re: Pardon the Interruption

The first time I heard Kelley Cutrara hand off to Oakley I thought they were joking around.
I thought, no she could not really be expressing obvious contempt for him.
But then after I heard it a few more times I realized, no she really despises him.
I can understand that.
I switch him off when his show begins.
I have noted before he turns me off with his snickering voice and his obvious tell signs that he doesn't believe much of what he says but he is playing this sort of right wing Larry Lunchbucket character who uses big words.
I once emailed Kelley to comment on something she had to say about working in radio in British Columbia
She replied promptly and showed genuine interest in my question and her email had a warm and friendly tone.
Nuff said about her "tone" with Oakley.

Thanks, that might be the explanation.  It's still very awkward.

Re: Pardon the Interruption

Cutrara believes that if a Man puts on a dress and declares himself Woman; he is thereupon an actual Woman. (And can travel into girls change rooms or beat the face of women in boxing rings)

Of course Oakley disrespects someone who holds such a viewpoint.
Any decent person would.

Re: Pardon the Interruption

Oakley is what he embarrassingly is. The thought of MOJO Radio still makes me chuckle, though. Imbecile concept. Talk radio by incels for incels.
