The official Evanonv press release:
One of Toronto’s Favorite Morning Show Voices Melanie Martin is joining The Z103.5 Morning Rush with Jimmy T & Melanie
Not sure about that "favourite morning voice" claim. I have to admit (and I'm not in the demo) that I've ever heard of her. But a quick look at her LinkedIn page does flush out her history.
She did work for the old Flow for more than 10 years up until 2017.
She was the morning show host for Big 101.1 in Barrie for 7 years as well as voice tracking an afternoon show for Corus in Kitchener.
And she was most recently heard on a podcast with "JJ" on her now apparently shut down website "melanieunfiltered.com," for the past 5 years.
So she's been around. Congrats on finally landing back on GTA-area radio. Hope this one takes!

By the way, you gotta love those Evanov proofreading people. Check out this from their official press release:
"She is the recipient of the (insert name, country or year or organization) Voice Tracker of the Year Award."
Seems like they forgot to insert anything.

If anyone wants to learn more about Melanie, she and JJ visited me a couple of times and in this episode we talked about her career in radio.

Melanie Martin co-hosted the morning show...on Z103.5 back in 2001-2003-ish with Scott Fox and Dave Blezard. Melanie left for all new station Flow 93.5 and eventually Scott and Dave were fired. Dave went to Kiss 92.5 and Scott was out in Kitchener. The station must have received many nasty emails about the firing (I sent one) that Scott returned and co-hosted with Kat Callahan.
Scott, Mel and Dave were the best Morning show ensemble they ever had.
I listened to 103.5 and nothing else for many years (1995-2022) Morning shows on this station average 1.5 to 2 years.

Z103 is secretly/not-so-secretly once of the best stations in the market.
Programming is a mix of science and art, and they're the only pop station that isn't titled too heavily to the science side.
It isn't boring. Virgin is boring.
I'm glad they've had much more success the past few years. With a better signal and a marketing budget they could be consistently Top 5.

Not to forget they tried. The CRTC put the kibosh on their trying to be a "Toronto" station back in 2017 and insisted they concentrate on their area of licence in Orangeville. So while they may have some GTA listeners, the Commission left them with no choice but to remain a true local, slicing off a potentially lucrative part of what could have been their market.

I only knew the morning show with Scott Fox, Dave, and Ashley Greco.

And their ratings are the best they're been since they were the only station apporoximating CHR in the market.
All those big downtown condos blocking their signal...well....you'd be lucky to find a single radio in most of them.
Instead of them bringing their signal to the city, the meters moved to their coverage area on the perimeter.

Their signal however, even though their site hasn't changed, has gotten more improvement I noticed in the past 2-3 years and its nice that its coverage is GTA and up into cottage country whereas Toronto ends just north of Barrie.

Why were they fired? Must have been awkward as Scott Fox’s dad works down the dial at the other Evanov central Ontario station 88.5 in Newmarket. His name, Gary Gamble.

Adding strength to your point, it was also handy having his son doing Z 103 mornings as Scott Fox, then some VT's as Scott Chapman on sister station 88.5 FM. All in the same day.
