I had the pleasure of going to a retirement party for Bayshore Broadcastings Managing Director/Director of Sales, Kevin Brown yesterday. A great time to see old friends and colleagues not only from Bayshore but CKNX as well.
Kevin's career spanned 44 years beginning at CKCO TV in operations., after graduating from Conestoga College. Then on to CKNX as a television copywriter, TV sales rep. and eventually sales director for CKNX radio. He later became director of sales for Bayshore Broadcasting and eventually Managing Director after long time GM Ross Kenter retired.
One thing that really hit home was the fact that smaller town operators like Bayshore are doing just fine. All through COVID and the recovery period many of these companies not only survived but even thrived while the conglomerates were taking on water and abandoning the ship.
Bayshore is awaiting the approval of their original station CFOS moving from AM to FM. The announcement for this should be soon. The company has 8 FM stations, one FM repeater, and CFOS AM. Kevin helped steer the company along with Ross Kenter growing the company with new FM licenses.
Congrats Kevin, it was a pleasure and a lot of fun working with you so many years ago. Kevin and I were the sales team for CKNX TV and radio, selling in the Owen Sound area. All great memories, a lot of work, but even more laughs and fun along the way.

A small, independent broadcaster can succeed, while the Corporate owned stations are dropping like flies.

Are you saying that Bayshore Broadcasting Corporation, owner of 560 CFOS and others, is not really a corporation?

How would I know? I'm a socialist. I know nothing about corporate law. Maybe I should not have posted my comment.

Is important to move cautiously from this point, as the moderator discourages (or outright bans) posts of a political nature. Are you politically active (or just one of the 1969 Woodstock generation variety of socialists?

I would be more likely to ban you, Geo, if you keep up the rabble rousing.

Please in this thread, can we keep the focus on Bayshore and Kevin Brown's retirement after a successful career?
Bayshore IS a "Corporation" certainly, but has one owner who is interested in growing the brand by listening to people like Kevin.

My original post was strictly about Bayshore Broadcastion and I thought I kept it positive. In a subsequent post I referred to my political leanings, just as an explanation for my colossal ignorance about corporate and business law.
