Everybody has to start somewhere. In the case of the man generally acknowledged as the greatest late night talk show host of all time, it was at a TV station in Omaha, Nebraska which was then called WOW-TV.
An impossibly young Johnny Carson did all his morning shows live in the station's very early years in the 50s, back when he was anything but a household name - even in Omaha. But his talent was beginning to shine even then.
As the TV outlet, now called WOWT, celebrates 75 years on air, it's looking back at some of its alumni. And no one looms larger than the kid from Corning, Iowa.
Sadly, because he did his early shtick live, there are few records of it. But one of his morning shows, called "The Squirrel's Nest," survives - preserved from Christmas Day in 1950. It may be the very earliest glimpse of the man who would be Late Night King.
You can watch the entire show here - it's the third choice on the list of four reports. It's not great - but you can see a spark there of what lay ahead, even if Carson himself had no idea what was coming.
