It's a shame that ex-Cincinnati Reds superstar Joey Votto never got to play a single game with the Blue Jays, despite signing a minor league contract with them this season. He spent all of it injured or struggling with the Buffalo Bisons.
Now that he's officially retired, there are suggestions he could be the next big name to hit the broadcast booth, primarily as a baseball analyst. There are certainly no shortage of former players who've made the move. But few baseball analysts have the record that Votto managed during his career.
Will it happen and could it be in the States or in his hometown? Is he even good enough on air to fill such a role?
Those are just some of the questions about his future now that his playing career is done. But it sure would be a fitting end if he wound up on Sportsnet and was able to join his "hometown" team as a final act.
Fox Sports should make Joey Votto the next Tom Brady

As much as I like Buck Martinez on the Blue Jays TV broadcasts, he’s now in his late 70s and he’s likely going to retire in the next several years. He’s not working every game anymore. Unless Caleb Joseph or Joe Siddal go full time alongside Dan Schulman, there will be a job opening at Rogers that Votto could potentially fill.

First they'd better find out if he's any good at being on the radio. Not everyone is.
It would be ironic if he took a job as an analyst and wound up back in Buffalo for a tryout!

Joey Votto would be good however I really like Caleb Joseph. It would be good to see him more often.

Comedian Gerry Dee tells this story about Joey Votto taking improv classes to improve his interview skills and thinking on his feet. Sounds to me like someone was looking towards a life beyond baseball (almost ten years before he actually retired).
