It's not quite DXing and I wasn't even aware there was anything still available on those big C-band satellite dishes. But an Ontario engineer was scanning the skies when he accidentally tuned into something people in the west rarely see - TV programming directly from North Korea.
Ontario man stumbles upon ‘mind-boggling’ North Korean state TV broadcasts

It's a real life version of the SCTV show where the Mellonville satellite collides with the Soviet satellite.
I'd love to see the SCTV version of this.
Programs like "Kim's Tractor."
"Front Page Censorship Challenge."
"Family Feud Ends With Family Executed For Treason."
"The Price Is Death."
"Hospital For Generals."
"Kim's Inconvenience."
"No Survivors."

What fits into North Korea?

It’s certainly interesting but I'm of the opinion that "accidently" might be a bit of an embellishment just to make a story. This DPRK feed has been posted in Lyngsat.com since late last year. Global TV has a dish farm like most TV stations and if they were to point one of their C/Ku steerable’s at the satellite located at 58W, they would see it too. I have a working BUD in my yard and see it as well. The programming is mind numbing to say the least, but there is a lot to be learned if you are interested in how to go about creating propaganda for the masses. Why the DPRK put it up there for this part of the world is a mystery, other than it shares the same multiplex with a South Korean station. I can’t think any western hemisphere BDU would take the DPRK feed as a customer offering, other than maybe those in Cuba or Venezuela that are within the satellite footprint.
