Sirius XM Introduces New Free Ad Supported Service For Your Car

It comes as the sat-radio service's subscriber numbers continue to fall - but there's a huge catch if you want to receive this de facto free series of music, talk, sports and comedy radio stations in your car.

And some of the rules they've attached are just odd, including a decree that you must listen at least once every 60 days or lose access to it forever - even if its website claims you need "No credit card. No subscription fees. No catch." (You can also view a list of all the available channels and how to sign up at the link above.)

I'm hoping this includes Canadians but stranger things have happened and perhaps someone who subscribes in this part of the world can confirm you can get this here.

More details.

SXM has really been promoting their ap lately. Sone channels are available only on the ap. Might they abandon Satellite broadcasting and become a strictly online service?

Re: Sirius XM Introduces New Free Ad Supported Service For Your Car

After being a subscriber for over 7 years, I dropped SiriusXM a few months ago, and I really don't miss them.  However about every three weeks I receive a big discounted offer from them in the mail.  Maybe they should take better care of their current customers with sharper deals and they wouldn't lose so many.

If I lived in a larger market like Toronto, Montreal or Tampa, I wouldn't subscribe. But London is a wasteland for radio.
When we spend our winters in Florida, I never use it.

To each their own.  I like London radio.  I listen to FM96, and Jack FM fairly regularly.  Can't pull in CFPL AM that great in Kitchener. But you are right, we get a lot more OTA stations here in Kitchener than London.  Guess that's why I wasn't listening to Sirius that much and got rid of them.  But it burns me how they are offering a 66% discount now to try and get me back.  No thanks. Maybe if I keep waiting the deals might get even better.

In the words of Gilda Radner's SNL character Emily Litella: "Never mind..."

SiriusXM Canada won’t introduce Free Access plan in step with U.S. counterpart

The only London station I listen to regularly is CBC Radio I, or occasionally CHRW-FM.

I used to listen to Radio II when it was mostly classical and jazz. But I gave up on it after they flipped it to the All Garage Band format.
