very very sad news, she had a glorious voice, a remarkable career even with her personal challenges and was her own person from beginning to end.

I first heard her as an angsty teen in the late 1980s, when The Lion and the Cobra came out. Her voice was a revelation. She and Dolores O’Riordan are both gone far too soon.

Such a sad tale... right up there with Amy Winehouse.
Implication is that Sinead either died of an overdose of something or suicide.
She was seriously mentally ill with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder and medication cannot always control that.
