Did people listen to Ben this weekend on 640? Corus better find money to sign him full time before Rogers decides to poach him. He had great guests and he is rounding into the best host on talk radio.

Agreed. He was very good and after many years of fairly moribund weekend morning radio in ths town, he's a breath of fresh air. But I think it's more likely Bell would pick him up, since Rogers doen't have any talk formats here - unless you count 680 News Radio.
I thought he did a great job subbing for Oakley all last week and frankly, I'd prefer if it were him full time five days a week! (Although that would probably screw up the weekends!)

Ben is a full-on top level interviewer and performer, though he specializes in lighter entertainment stuff.
But he can talk about politics and general world affairs as well as any of them -- and without the right wing embarrassed snickering verbose comments of Oakley.
However he also deserves to be paid pretty big bucks, something I just do not think Bell will offer.
He also has a young family that is a going financial concern.
Unlike John Tory who is already loaded and does the radio gig more or less as a fun diversion.

Mulroney was subbing for Greg Brady on Friday and was talking about a bridge (or a gondola!) to the Toronto Islands and how to get it built efficiently. He suggested it could be sponsored by a corporation like TD Bank, Rogers or Bell.
And then he said, "It wouldn't be Corus. They don't have any money. I've seen the stock prices!"
I'm not sure any regular 640 host would have gone there, but it sure was good for a laugh.
