This article confirms the story from a Sportsnet spokesperson, but no one seems willing to say what happened. He'd been with SN for 15 years.

I've been in the industry more than 20 years... I have no idea what this means!
Could it be a goofy sports reference since he worked at SportsNet?

A blogger I just found indicates "something happened at the NHL draft."
Maybe it relates to that.

Marek caught the red-eye out of Vegas after the 1st round of the NHL draft.
Friedman then did a 32 Thoughts podcast solo a day or two later to wrap up the draft.

15 years? That's about how long it's been since I bothered with TSN 1050, maybe 20, not that it was because of Marek.

Postmedia's The Province newspaper confirms Marek's departure, but offers no reason for his apparently sudden dismissal.

TSN employees are now actively calling for the company to hire Jeff Marek
Although maybe they should wait until after they find out what happened before making any moves. It could easily backfire on them, depending on the reasons for his sudden dismissal.

The guy on Twitter who originally broke the story about Marek is now suggesting there are cuts coming to Sportsnet - although they have nothing to do with what happened to the veteran reporter.
True? False? I guess we'll see what the final score is soon.
